How to add a 2D panel in prep3Dv4 an up

Post by Matra1964 »

Hi

I want to change my FSX steam edition to Prepare3Dv4

In the new Microsoft MSFS2020 there is no 2D panel/cockpit option at all

I know this issue have been discussed. But i cannot find a solution

Can you change cockpit/panel mode to 2D in Prepare3dV4

Or is it possible to make it yourself in "panelmaker" and then insert the 2D Cockpit/Panel in different aircrafts?

Is that possible at all?

Anyway

Where do i find websites for freeware addon aircraft. Prepare3Dv4 and above?

And is it correct that Prepare3Dv3 is 32. bit... and prepare3Dv4 is 64 bit?

All advises are welcome
Thanks

Hi Matra1964
2D Panels can be made to all aircrafts. You will find help in the SDK:
http://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv4/LearningCenter.php
You can find freeware addon aircraft on SOH, Simviation, Avsim...
Prepar3D v3 is 32 bit and v4 is 64 bit.
v4 is DirectX 11 and v5 is DirectX 12

Hi Michel
Thank you very much for your reply

Please allow me to ask a few questions

Maybe a little stupid. But prepare3Dv5 is much better than FSX right?

I heard that 64 bit version can use the hardware better

Fsx aircraft work with Prepare3Dv3, But do they work with Prepare3Dv4 and 5?

I just need to find out how to make 2D panel for my aircafts. Hmmmm

Regarding the aircraft, this can be a hit-and-miss process.

For example, the FSX Beech King Air 350 works fine in P3D v. 4, but not in v. 5.

I use a 3rd party addon, Airmanager, for 2d panels. It can run either on your sim PC or on a networked device. I happen to be running it on a 6 year old laptop. There are options for using IPADs and Arduino devices. Touch screens are also supported. There are hundreds of free instruments. There are a few free panels and some for an additional cost. New instruments are being added on a regular basis by the developer and user community. Not that I want to spam an add but here's a link:

Thank You very much all of You

Att :Sabre57. Thanks for the link :-)
You mentioned that you run it from a 6 years old laptop. Airmanager itself or the panel/cockpit you use for flying?
If anybody have experience with Air manager and 2D panels in Sims like prepare3dv5, MSFS2020 or X-plane 11
please let me know

If you use a 3rd party addon. Like Air manager, for 2d panels.
Can you then "design a 2D panel" and after simply insert it "in the aircraft you choice" inside one of the simulators mentioned

Before in FSX or "Prepare3Dv3 i guess. It was very easy
Simply design your panel in "panel Studio"!After you Removed the old panel in one of your aircraft and insert the new.
Of course you have to edit a little in panel.cfg/aircraft.cfg file but it was easy

All adwises are welcome

Air manager is a separate application that pulls data from the simulator to drive the instruments. It can run on the same computer as the sim and you have the panel displayed on it's own monitor that's also on the sim PC.

Or you can run it on another PC, it gets the data over the network, and display it on a screen on the secondary PC. This is how I run it.

In both cases the panel only runs in Air manager. Modifications to the aircraft are not needed.
