Sli problem

Post by jiangbo1992 »

Hello, the GPU I am using is 1080ti sli.Whenever I start SLI and enter P3DV4.5, it will become the following (see video)https://youtu.be/KLi2F42q9tg.But when I close SLI everything works fine.I am very upset about why this is.I am very anxious and I hope that a friend can help me solve the problem. I will be very grateful.

I've been using a 1080Ti SLI setup for a year and have never seen that happen. Keep on troubleshooting, you should be able to get it to work.

Start and stop SLI.... I've never done that. I installed the second card, enabled SLI in the NVidia control panel, and have never changed it. This makes me wonder exactly what does "start SLI" mean?

I found a problem today. My monitor is 4K 70MHZ refresh rate. The problem before I restricted P3D V4 PFS to 30PFS. was solved. Once the PFS is raised above 30 PFS, the problem reappears.

Wow... I'm impressed. A display with a 70 MHz refresh rate. Not sure what a PFS is... maybe you mean FPS?

Two questions in one post:

@jiangbo1992,

It is not clear from what you wrote if you have one or two graphics cards in your system.

I would imagine that if you only have one graphics card, and then enable SLI, all sorts of fun things could happen, since SLI is really for use with two graphics cards.

@Dan,

You have two cards with SLI - what kind of improvement did you see when you added the second card?

In normal conditions there's not much difference but in conditions that used to slam frame rate into the low teens I now see a pretty steady rate that I have locked at 24 fps. The only downside, besides cost, is that texture rendered graphics such as what GSX uses for jetway gate numbers or the FSDT KORDv2 gate signs will flicker. Annoying but the real constraint I face is the 11 GB VRAM limit of the 1080Ti. I easily hit that limit with high resolution terrain and high detail scenery such as Orbx Honolulu. I may give up my two 1080Ti's for a single Titan RTX with 24 GB VRAM.... expensive, yes. That's why I'm just in the thinking about it stage.

Thanks for the explanation, Dan.

It would be really interesting if nVidia could come up with a way in SLI to add the VRAM of the two cards together for 22 GB.... but we can always dream!
