V5 HF1 Major Flickering on Buildings in Scenery (with dynamic texture streaming)
V5 HF1 Major Flickering on Buildings in Scenery (with dynamic texture streaming)
As the title says. Every few seconds I get flickering of building textures.
This is with Enhanced atmospherics on or off.
I have only updated the client at this stage.
I have regenerated my .cfg and deleted the shaders folder after install.
I am on Nvidia Driver 445.87

Re: V5 HF1 Major Flickering on Buildings in Scenery
In the release notes here AI updates were made in Client and Scenery .
In the forum Rob mentioned best to do a full uninstall/reinstall if your are into AI.
https://www.prepar3d.com/latest-news/
Rob's info:

But, for a quick test just turn off all AI and retest.
Later you can install more modules as necessary.

Re: V5 HF1 Major Flickering on Buildings in Scenery
I have done the full uninstall, install hotfix procedure from the installation guide and I see the same flickering. I can see it at the default airport, at YSSY and in Los Angeles as the OP describes.
I wonder if it is shader processing?
What is a chore is the full uninstall and reinstall that P3D involves each and every time.

I also had bright green trees all over the place. It was only after several restarts of P3D HF1 and unchecking dynamic texture streaming that the bright green trees went away.

Hello,
Same problem here: Flashing buildings every few seconds. Terrible!

"I too have super nuclear bright green trees all over the place."
Turn off dynamic vegetation and restart the sim.
"Same problem here: Flashing buildings every few seconds. Terrible!"
Is it really only the building? Or the whole screen.

Re: V5 HF1 Major Flickering on Buildings in Scenery
Can you please try disabling the new dynamic texture streaming option in your graphics settings and let us know if that resolves the issue?
Thanks

Hello Beau Hollis,
Yes, turning off the new 'Dynamic Texture Streaming' option in the Display screen solves the issue.
Thank you very much!

Thanks for reporting back. Disabling Vsync might help also based on this thread:

We'll try to work through the issues with texture streaming. It's still a work in progress. We worked hard to get that feature in quickly to provide more options for users running out of VRAM.

I registered just now on the forum to offer my thanks to you for your dedication, candor, and time spent monitoring how things are going, and in many cases, providing solutions. I appreciate how much time it must take for you to read the posts and respond to some, and it's much appreciated.Beau Hollis wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 9:38 pmThanks for reporting back. Your explanation of new features and your inside information, not available anywhere else, on how to best deal with the myriad issues people worldwide are having are golden. There are many forums that deal with Prepar3d, and lots of discussions, with various users attempting to offer their own suggestions on fixing issues. But most of them are just pure guesswork, and most are wasted bandwidth.
I find your posts to be right on the money, and very helpful in dealing with my own usage of Prepar3d. Thanks again, Beau.
