Hi,

I'm seeing a similar problem.

FSL A320 @ UK2000 EGKK and ORBX TE GB sitting on runway goes from 23 FPS (4.4) to 14 FPS (4.5)
FSL A320 @ FlyTampa VHHX 30 FPS to 26 FPS
Default scenario. F22 @ KVPS vsync=0 84 FPS to 75 FPS

Windows 10 64-bit 1809 17763.437
i9-7980XE 18-Core HT-disabled
NVidia GTX 1080 Ti - drivers 425.31 - 3840x2160 @ 60Hz - single monitor
64GB RAM

Disabled addons except for ORBX (vector, global, openLC NA, regions and TE, trees) + SODE + FSUIPC free version
Shader cache has been deleted.
GEForce experience in-game overlay disabled

Srce,

Please do NOT post your entire Prepar3d.cfg as a text listing in these forums ... offer a link to the file if you feel it's required.

Thorsten,

What is "polyline autogen buildings"? Did you mean Polygons?

Others with FPS problems,

My suggestion for those with performance issues is to:

1. Backup/copy your Prepar3d.cfg then delete your Prepard3d.cfg and let P3D generate a new default one
2. Delete your shaders folder and disable any 3rd party shader products (do NOT use those shader products restore option as that will restore older files from v4.4), however you might need to find OS original DXGI
3. Recommend updating Client AND Content (see Elaine's how to listed here)
4. AVX/2 is used, so if you Overclock it's best to keep the AVX value the same (i.e. offset = 0) ... be aware AVX generates much more heat and has the potential to trigger thermal throttling
5. Basic diagnostics, disable add-ons and test FPS, if FPS is good, then add back ONE add-on and test again, repeat adding just ONE add-on each time until possible source of FPS reduction is found
6. Don't use any nVidia Inspector settings while trying to isolate

Unfortunately I've not been able to replicate any FPS issues, but I don't doubt these problems are real for some and must be frustrating to experience after updating. In order for LM to fix problems, they MUST be able to replicate them.

Cheers, Rob.

Dear Rob.

Hello. I've been through all your videos and your website, Reading through all of threads and topics and posts and guides for the whole time after release till now ( just had 4-5 hours of sleep ) did all those cleanings , if you have a look at my previous post here you'll see, even cleaned all the traces from 4.4 in the registry , the Local folder/Program data/Roaming... etc etc... All deleted. even my document folder and all of it's contents... no ... nothing helped. and I realized, in a sceneries like GCTS by Digital Design or KATL by Imaginesim, OMDB by Flytampa, tested them all, the rendering core ( Core 0 ) unlike the times in older version which was ramped up to 100%, is just roaming around 10-20% ... So I don't know what is it all about. But I just reinstalled 4.4 right now. Saved me big fat headache.

Sincerely yours

1) already done
2) already done , no add on shaders used just default P3D
3) Done
4) dont use that
5) why? if the FPS was ok with the add on before yet is lower with the new 4.5 its not an add on thats causing it
6) dont use NV i for P3D
something must have been added in the 4.5 update thats caused it .. new autogen .. new textures etc , any new performance decreasing stuff should really be left till P3Dv5
Thanks

I’m also experiencing a loss of FPS following updating Client and Content from 4.4 to 4.5.

My default scenario is sitting on runway 16 at YMML (Orbx Australia/Vector/Base/YMML, PMDG 738, ActiveSky, FSUIPC, GSX, UTLive, OpusFSI, SODE), unlimited frames, vsync and triple buffering.
4.5 client = 20 FPS
4.4 client = 29 FPS

I’ve now uninstalled/reinstalled the Client numerous times (deleting shader cache and scenery index each time) and simply switching between client 4.4 and 4.5 results in this ~30% FPS change. I’ve tried disabling each addon one at a time but with no luck.

I also tried disabling all addons which yielded a much smaller but repeatable, loss of FPS. Again at YMML but with all addons disabled (other than the Orbx Base textures which overwrote the default textures) and using the F22Raptor:
4.5 client = 73 FPS (with vsync off)
4.4 client = 84 FPS (with vsync off)

System specs:
Win 10 Pro x64 (v1809)
I7-7700K @5GHz, 32Gb RAM, nvidia 1080Ti (driver v418.91), single monitor (3440x1440).
Overlay and GameStream in Geforce Experience disabled. No custom Nvidia Inspector settings set.

I’m happy to assist with any testing.

Hi Rich, we're simply trying to perform diagnostics and locate a source, once source is located then that provides additional information to work with and could aid in trying to replicate. Replication is key to getting an issue addressed either by vendor or by LM as deemed appropriate.

I have a small loss on FPS However, now I am getting stutters in level flight. It gets so bad that the popup like it is loading appears and stops all simulator progress.

I was on a 6 hour flt over Indonesia to Australia. The stutter or slight pause caused the sim to crash.

never happened on 4.4.

Hi Rob,

From another thread at Orbx I have understood that loading while flying has improved but the first time the Sim is loaded will take longer. Also more memory is being used now
That is no problem as I have memory enough.
At Schiphol , after the scenery has been loaded it now can take up to 1 min before all aircraft have their textures...

On my setup the stability has become less when slewing. Up to V4.4 I could Slew around a large airport without issues and now after several times V4.5 will hang as it the window becomes white without responding . The same after a clean install.

I now wait an additional minute after the longer loading before starting. Then when taxiing and flying over TU NL no issues...

Regards,
Gerard

Additional :

Just tried slewing a few times over TE NL Amsterdam. At the first time a blue screen with a Watchdog Time-out, which pointe to errors made by the cpu.
My system is rocksolid in 4.4. If a 7940X 14 core stumbles ....

Tried again at a non OC cou speed and the same error .

Thorsten,

What is "polyline autogen buildings"? Did you mean Polygons?
Rob, I mean those autogen buildings that don´t use a rectangular footprint. Those polyline autogen buildings are created wit a polygonal shape defining the outer and inner border of the building. Those are mostly used in dense city areas and are causing a huge frame drop.

More can be found in the SDK at the autogeneration section. Picture:

Ok have found my issue or the issue

Scenery distance I always have set to high as this means if i am landing on rw 5 at glasgow, edinburgh does not pop in and cause a long frame (uk2000 airports). In 4.4, High meant I would get a long pause when edin/gla got to 25 mark. When I landed today at glasgow I had the route arc up and just as edinburgh hit the 40 mark ahead of me I got a long frame.

I can see with the same in game settings on that first detail slider I am now loading in a radius of 40 and not 25. This would also account for the additional memory usage.

LM, can you conirm what im seeing here ? The only reason I noticed this so quickly is the ongoing issue with UK2000 airports where theres a 3-4 second megaframe whilst libraries load. This always happened 25 out now it's 40. For me this is the smoking gun. I may have missed the changlog mentioning changing the calibration of that first detail slider.

Is there a v4.5 change log that contains more details on what has changed? If AVX is now used that a big deal to those who overclock (due to the potential heat issues). I'd like to confirm the AVX change, and also see what else has changed.

Thanks.

last observation .... the top lod slider that I normally have set mid way (High) used to have a large impact on framerate and mem usage when set to Ultra vs high vs medium. This is no longer the case, flying in central Scotland on approach to UK2000 airports I get 16FPS (4.4 I had 30), moving LOD up to Ultra, same 16FPS, moving it down to medium, 16FPS and same memory footprint (RAM and Vmem).

It almost feels like that first slider is stuck on max and isnt reducing, when lowered.

I even get reproducible CTDs when I try to move that slider during a flight over demanding scenery

Gerard
I have a very similar problem. Loading the sim takes substantially longer, particularly when I have Chris Bell's night environment regions active. It looks like a long freeze from clicking OK on the scenario window to actually seeing the loading progress bar. It takes 4 mins now before the progress bar shows up, then loading commences from there at its normal pace.

I also get the freezing when slewing around. At points it will completely lock up for as long as minute or more.

Although I am seeing somewhat of an overall FPS improvement, I do see the random severe FPS drops every few seconds which lead to significant stutters. As I fly almost exclusively in VR, it makes it a very unstable and unsatisfying experience as VR needs the steady frame rate.

Thanks,
Chris
