[RESOLVED] DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG Prepar3D v4

Post by elmucki »

I was having an issue with P3D v4 (latest version as of the date of this post).

I get this error message: https://gyazo.com/576daeb0ed48d269cf8de78bdd3dd49f

I received this error message a few times over the course of the week, sometimes pretty quickly sometimes after a few hours into a flight.

Anyways, the latest NVIDIA drivers which seem to be the root of this evil. I had to switch back to a historic driver (382.05) to resolve this issue for now. Seems to do the trick but doesnt solve the problem.

I am clearly not the only one who has this issue but if i read the other posts, it seems to be a driver issue due to long frames... So long story short, whats causing the long frames? Can the long frames be addressed somehow?

Hello elmucki

Try this....

Reinstall or Update your graphics driver.

But Ensure you Tick the Box for "Perform a clean Installation" when you are prompted the option during the driver Install process

Also you can use a driver cleaning utility like Driver Display Uninstaller to remove your old driver and then proceed to Install the driver again

Have you tried completely disabling your Antivirus Software Including Windows Defender and then testing ?

If this is successful you can then add Exclusions for Prepar3D in your Antivirus Software

I actually resolved the issue by using a legacy driver. i think its 382.05. Not sure what was causing it, but that driver seems to work ok. No need to update drivers just to have latest version. If it wasnt broke, no need to fix it.
