V5 CTD on View Change (AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT)

I understand it's not supported...but I am able to use the aircraft I paid for in the meantime...until the NGXU and other aircraft come around..meanwhile the one that has support for preapar3dV5, still does not work for me.

HI, the same happens to me with an RX 5700 XT. Regardless if I am using an old or the actual AMD driver. I can switch the views by using my old RX580. I can do long hauls on V4 and X-Plane without any issues.

In my case the game freezes for about 10 sec and then CTD. From this point on I am not able to start another Game or app using the 3D Card. Windows it self is doing fine.

And as you can see here it is not a PMDG issue. The problem is not that we cannot use aircraft we have paid for it is we have a sim we cannot use that we paid for. Now going on 6 weeks.

Well my fear at this time is LM has pushed this issue to AMD to solve and AMD has wiped their ass with it. So it seams we are all milking the dog waiting for something to happen.

So the RX 580 comes out of the box and the RX5700XT goes back in I use v4.5 to beta test when the 737 and 777 drop to us. Then look for a cheaper nVidia card for v5 in the meantime. The sad part is the one PMDG Beta tester running a AMD system may be forced to abandon the latest gen AMD GPU till this is fixed.

Check this thread, there are several people experiencing the same issue with actual NVIDIA Cards.

It's the same error but looks like a different cause. Couple of the PMDG testers ran into it. They said lower texture resolution helped them.

My big issue is I can run v5 on my older RX580 but not my 5700XT. Last Radeon driver update was 4/23/20 almost a month ago and total radio silence from AMD on this. Don't think this is a priority for AMD to fix.

Between max and lowest graphics as well as full or no AA nothing has changed.

Been stuck with this issue for about 6 weeks or so now? If only I had requested a refund in the 2 weeks after purchase, but I was too hopeful that it would be fixed rather quickly. Well it seems I was very wrong...

Went back to my oldRX580 card, and I am able to use all my aircraft, including the PMDG 747..I can change views ,with no CTD.

Everything works great...except for a black screen in the aircraft preview, but i am still able to choose what I want to use, and it's working good. Yesterday was the first time in weeks, that I was able to do a long haul without a hangup or CTD.(RKSI to EHAM on the PMDG 747). Also my 580 is updated to 20.4.2..I believe is the latest driver.

I'm using my 580 with the 19.8.2 driver so i can beta test. As I reported a while back works fine and I don't get the black screen on preview

For those of you coming late to this. We have already established the following:

The problem is with 5700 and VII series cards. RX 5XX cards are not affected

It only happens with certain aircraft
The following don't have the issue
Default Milviz P38
Default Lockheed Electra
Default AC-11
Default F-22
Carenado products
majestic Q400

The following are KNOWN to cause the issue.

Default F-35
Default F-16
PMDG QOTS II (beta)

Add Vega series to the affected cards as well.

to add to the list of working planes:
Realair planes work ported from v3 (duke, lancair, didn't test the spitfire) - they are free to download from their site if you have an old license

Everything is also fine with my RX580 and 19.8. As soon as I am putting back th RX 5700 XT, the CTD on cam change happens again. No Black Screen so far.
