Hi Anyone out there who can help,
I have kindreds of duplicate and in some cases triplicate files on my system all P3D related, I found these through a commercial file cleaning tool (cleaner professional) should I delete these files or delete after retaining 1 Copy only?
Apologies if in wrong forum for support maybe you can advise which support area I may post this question if required.

Re: Duplicate Files on System
What you see are probably files that have duplicated titles, and are not necessarily actual duplicates.
If - and I really do mean IF - you want to remove some of these, then:
1. Be very careful in what you do, and
2. Do not remove them at first, but copy them to a secure location, so you can copy them back again if necessary.
But overall, I would stay totally away from that - especially since disk and SSD space is so cheap these days.
So my advice is to just leave things alone, you could be inviting a lot of trouble.

Maybe give a couple examples or a screenshot.
Normally cleaning tools / diag tools / registry editors etc are for advanced users.
Use at your own risk.

As mentioned above, duplicate file names do not necessarily represent true duplicates. An obvious example would be various liveries for the same model (mdl). All the textures will have the same file names because that's all the mdl file can recognize. Even deleting true duplicates could have an adverse impact based on the way P3D searches for files.
I would think deleting such files is dangerous and without much reward for the risk.

For finding duplicated files, I was using DuplicateFiles Deleter. It works really well.
