[RESOLVED] Starting Oculus Rift crashes P3Dv4.5
Re: Starting Oculus Rift crashes P3Dv4.5
It's not an Aerosoft problem as I don't have any. Mine crashes out even with the default F-22 Raptor and at the default Eglin AFB. If it won't work with the default there must be something wrong with P3DV4.5

Re: Starting Oculus Rift crashes P3Dv4.5
Mine is crashing on every plane, even the default one. Also tried deleting the config file, still no joy. Just reinstalling oculus software now........
Re: Starting Oculus Rift crashes P3Dv4.5
Agree, but my reporting to Lockheed that certain a/c work while others do not may help track down the issue.
You're running Windows 7, correct ? What is your Windows event viewer showing ?

I think it might be the latest nvidia driverwrote: Agree, but my reporting to Lockheed that certain a/c work while others do not may help track down the issue.

my Event viewer is stating this ..............

Kernalbase.dll crashes to me says it's the video driver probably, mine is Version 419.67 who else is on this driver? I think I'm going to roll back to 419.17 that was stable I'm sure.
Re: Starting Oculus Rift crashes P3Dv4.5
That is the exact same error I had yesterday... kernelbase.dll error. But I am running 419.67 driver, and can get those aircraft I mentioned earlier to work....
LM: What version of the nVidia driver do you recommend / used for your testing before release of 4.5 ?
cheers,

If you have a rift look in vr settings if portals have been created delete them worked for me also reset to single pass . Performance still well below 5.4

I've just rolled back to 419.17 from 419.67 I think there was one in between these to something like 419.31 but it is 419.17 that is good.

Re: Starting Oculus Rift crashes P3Dv4.5
THANKS cannow.
That does work for me, most of the time. I just did a TOTAL reinstall and tried it the way I used to and it STILL didn't work to my dismay, I thought for sure that would work. After doing what you said it is working although it should work in stereo. I find if I get to work in single pass and then go to stereo while I am using the rift it seems to work in stereo then. But. As soon as I leave the rift and then try to start rift again in stereo mode it crashes. WHAT A PAIN!!
Thanks cannow though!!!!
Re: Starting Oculus Rift crashes P3Dv4.5
Well I rolled it back to 419.17 but I still got a Kernelbase.dll fault When I tried to open Oculus

Re: Starting Oculus Rift crashes P3Dv4.5
I can add my name to the kernalbase.dll crash upon attempting to activate the Oculus Rift. Worked fine in P3D4.4. I upgraded to 4.5 client and content. Am running the latest Nvidia drivers. Deleted prepared.cfg with no change. The Oculus Rift works in 4.5 if I use the SteamVR interface to run VR. I performed a repair on the Oculus Rift software and still can't run the Rift through the Oculus selection in P3D. Using SteamVR selection is the only way at this point to get the Rift to work in 4.5.

Something is out of whack.

Re: Starting Oculus Rift crashes P3Dv4.5
Continuing testing...I temporarily renamed p3d.cfg, scenery.cfg, removed add-ons. Started a flight with the PMDG 737 in stock scenery.
When the flight starts, Oculus works fine. Then I disable VR as I normally do during cruise. Approaching the airport (about an hour later,) I try to re-enable VR / Oculus. Crash to desktop. Same "kernel.dll" error everyone else is seeing.
My worry is that we are stuck with this bug. Something is defintely broken now. I am heading back to 4.3 or 4.4...
