SR-72: Future Now

Post by MS1787C »

There has been a fair degree of comment about the SR-72 in recent months - including a report of a subscale demonstrator sighting in AviationWeek. Therefore, earlier in the summer I thought I might try out said hypersonic airplane in V4 (in its operational 2030 guise). A personal project done purely for fun, using imported geometry as a base, but sharing screenshots here for a little while as I thought it might raise a smile. This particular airframe is currently undergoing slow speed testing at an undisclosed location...

Thank you kindly!

As an aside, for those wondering, I am exploring options about the use of external flight dynamics to pick up the speed, and, of course, controllability, of the platform throughout its conceptualised envelope, beyond those supportable by P3D natively. This is a complex technology, and not currently within my skillset, but is one I'm looking into.
