Light source changes when you pan in the VC

Post by sidfadc »

Hi,

First post here, I've uploaded this video over at Avsim to indicate a problem with the light source changing from light to dark when panning the VC. The video also demonstrates rain fall stopping and starting (unintended by me).

https://youtu.be/4uCh2iJJdno

Video number 2 also highlights weird shadow issues which was remedied somewhat by increasing my shadow draw distance to HIGH but the issue isn't totally resolved. I also see cloud shadows disappear and reappear when I'm panning around in the VC.

I'm wondering what your thoughts are on these issues?

Thanks

Hello sidfadc,

Someone linked one of your videos in this thread.

If the issue is caused by an add-on, you will likely want to reach out to the add-on developer for direct support. If they need any support with development, they should not hesitate to contact us.

Brady

Hi,

I do use PTA and I already saw that "solution" on Avsim before posting here, I tried it and it didn't work. I'll restore default shaders completely and see if the light source changes.

What about the disappearing/reappearing cloud shadows? Associated with PTA as well?

I'll do some more investigation and report back.

Thanks

ok I can confirm restoring original shaders through PTA did not resolve video number 1, which is light source changes when panning the view.

Hello sidfadc,

We do have a known behavior bug with cloud casting turned on, which is known specifically to affect shadows on the aircraft, but not on the ground around it. Please refer to this post:
http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic ... 4&t=125862

If you can confirm that turning cloud casting off fixes the problem, can you post the video you already made and results into that thread?

Brady

Hi Brady

Just watched the videos in the other thread and its the same issue, so I'll deactivate cloud casting and report my finsings in that other thread. Its not a massive issue but it is really annoying and dilutes the immersion factor.

Thanks
Sid
