CTD on startup P3d V5

Post by Hageneezz »

Hello all

I am new to this software

I have purchased a 1 month subsctiption, to see if I like the simulator, downloaded and installed it to my
C drive. Whenever I load up the sim, it crashes on the home screen.

I have already installed the latest Nvidia drivers

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
I5-10600K
Nvidia 1660 Super
16GB DDR 4 Ram

Thanks!

The latest (and the version before that) nVidia driver is the problem. You will need to roll the driver back two versions, then it will work.

You need 461.92 NVIDIA drivers or next one after 466.11 (according to NVIDIA data, next version of drivers after 466.11 will fix P3Dv5 CTD issue).

Hi,
To-day I installed the new driver after 466.11, viz. 466.27. I still get a CTD the moment the scenario should start. I have uninstalled prepar and re-installed it again. Still the same problem.
Could there be some other reason why the program does not start. By the way, before I updated the driver to 466.11 the program was running fine.
Thanks for your help.

Hi
Perhaps it is not the reason, but have you deleted your shaders?
Otherwise, when you had reinstalled P3D, have you deleted all P3D files?
Have a look here:

@ hanss ,
Hans,

Are you going to roll back to the driver that was working ?

Thank you all for your help.
I did follow the video provided by Michel and got it working.
It means however that I have to install all the addons I have accrued over the years.
Perhaps for the better as there might have been a lot of rubbish accumulated with it, which has now been removed and could have been the cause of the problem after the driver problem.
Thanks a lot again

Like a lot of people I installed NVidias latest drivers and experienced CTD. However a couple of days later I am now using the latest drivers without any problems at all. The solution is to do a clean install and only install the graphics driver. No HD audio, no PhysX driver and definitely no XBox Gaming experience.
