Sudden fps loss v5.2

Post by Meowsa »

Hello there!

Yesterday I fired up the sim and was surprised to see that the framerate wouldn't go above 40 in the default F35 KRND scenario.
I hadn't changed anything so I was quite intrigued. Turns out the framerate loss spans across all airports, addons and what not. In LatinVFR KMIA I get around 8 fps now. I should also mention that I'd been experiencing major stutters prior.

I am stumped.

Here is a list of a few things I have done in an attempt to at least find the hinderance:

-reinstall gpu drivers via DDU
-reinstall client and content
-delete all addons
-lowered settings
-deleted config file, shaderHLSL, shaders folder
-tried downgrading to v5.1
-tried using affinity mask

Nothing helped to I resorted to a complete reinstall, which made no difference.

My system is pretty powerful, and the default scenario used to run at about 120-130fps.

Specs:
-i9-10900k
-RTX 3080
-32gb RAM
-installed on nvme drive

I thought I was going crazy, I even upgraded my, now legacy, AMD R9 390 video card early to an absurdly expensive RTX 3080 Ti thinking that was the problem and I am still getting 4ps in a lot of places with graphics on low!

Code: Select all

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X	57 °C
                               Matisse 7nm Technology
RAM: 32.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1330MHz (20-19-19-43)
Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) (AM4)	34 °C
Graphics: DELL P2419H (1920x1080@60Hz)
                              E32-D1 (1920x1080@60Hz)
                              4095MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti (MSI)	56 °C
Storage: 465GB Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB (SATA (SSD))	37 °C
931GB Western Digital WDS100T3X0C-00SJG0 (Unknown (SSD))
Optical Drives: No optical disk drives detected
Audio: Soundcraft Notepad 8FX

Edit: It is strange that 'Graphics' shows only 4GB graphics memory, in Speccy anyway, here is what Nvidia shows:

Code: Select all

Have you guys made any changes to default WIN10 sound setup?

Are you using a custom sound setup / sound drivers?

Ok, I think you are on to something, when I turn sound off, my framerates jump dramatically. I am actually at work (but I can Teamview into my computer at home) - When I get home I'll start experimenting with the audio drivers... Removing, adding, etc..

Yup, turns out it was my Soundcraft Notepad-8FX mixer. Removing it and all is well (except not being able to use it any more). I am assuming it was the last Windows 21H1 update.

Good thing is I finally upgraded that video card I have been dreading to do :-) Such a huge difference.

I'll be contacting them and seeing if they plan on updating the driver.

@ mfueeg ,

Is your PC a store name brand or did you build it?

What are you system specs?

So, your CPU and GPU are both Overclocked if I read you specs correctly.
Is this factory Overclocking or did you do it?

Have you made any changes to the PC's configuration?

Which speaker system are you using?

Do you currently have a default P3D install without any Add-ons?

How did you do the P3Dv5.2 Update?

Is your default flight the F-35A at KRND or did you change it?
