Version 5 requires as one of the minimums a graphics adapter with 4 GB of VRAM.

If your Intel adapter does not have that, version 5 will not run.

Giorgio,

When I looked up your Elitebook on HP's site, this is what it said about the graphics, in addition to the Intel 620:

AMD Radeon R7 M465
2 GB GDDR5 dedicated

That is not enough VRAM to fulfill the minimum requirement of 4 GB.

If I can't use version 5 (bought because they said they only check DIRECTX 12) I uninstall everything and ask for a refund.

One thing that can be confusing about GPU spec sheets is the difference between DirectX 12 API support and DirectX 12 feature level support. The Dx12 API can run on Dx11 hardware with some restrictions, however our min system requirement is for feature level 12_0 support. More specifically we need resource binding tier 2 support for our new bindless texture and material system.

Feature level support isn't always clearly stated on spec sheets but there is a good table over on wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feature_l ... ort_matrix

Based on this, the 620 should actually be ok from a feature level standpoint but it may not have the hoursepower required. Generation 8 and earlier ntel GPUs do not support 12_0. In terms of memory, I believe that integrated graphics cards use system RAM as VRAM, so it's possible if you have enough system RAM. That said, using integrated graphics, I would suggest starting with all settings minimal and working up from there. The infogen GPU memory info text next to our FPS counter should let you know how much VRAM budget the OS is providing to Prepar3D (assuming it can get fully loaded).

We did have at least one beta tester running on an older 2GB card, but settings had to be tuned at the startup screen before loading the default scenario to avoid running out of memory. Our default settings and scenario use about 2GB at startup.

Thanks

Hi Guys:

Got a laptop Acer Aspire 5 with integrated Intel HD 620 4 GB graphic card 8th generation.

My question before buying P3D is: Can´t run P3D v5 unless changing my laptop?

Thanks in advance for your time and help

Tony,

I found this bit about the Intel HD 620:

"Due to its lack of dedicated graphics memory or eDRAM cache, the HD 620 has to access the main memory (2x 64bit DDR3/DDR4)."

The whole review of this graphics adapter can be found here:

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-UHD ... 936.0.html

Since this Acer laptop has a maximum of 8 GB of RAM, the graphics adapter could eat up to 4 GB of that, leaving 4 GB for P3D!

P3D might run on this system, but only just run...

Personally, I would look elsewhere.....

Hi:

Thank you very much Jorgen, that was my feeling. My laptop is new (about 4 months) so i cant buy a new one. Will stay with P3D v4.5 and wait for Microsoft FS 2020 requirements.

Hello to all,
I have the same graphics adapter and problem on my Lenovo X201. P3D freezes at start screen (in the box where the selected aircraft should be displayed, the screen stays black)
Can only terminate the app by taskmgr.

Is there any possibility/tweak to make P3D v5.1 start? I only like to do some tests with Fsuipc, I don't need to fly right now. My regular sim/homecockpit (based on FSX) is currently under maintenance that's why I'm testing P3D with my notebook.
Thank you very much and kind regards,
Marco
