Vehicle Failure not requested

I've been a longtime simmer - FSX and all versions of P3D through V5.3. Never needed help before...
About a month ago I upgraded my PC and did a full complete reinstall of everything. Now when flying I get random failures that have not been specified for the vehicle. In particular
1. Flying a Carenado PA34-200T Seneca II
2, At about 10 minutes into the flight the GPS and Autopilot consistently fail.
3. I've reset all failures for all categories in the menu, yet it still fails
4. The only way I've been able to fly is by clearing all checkmarks and setting random failures for 360 minutes which gives me some flying time
5. My workaround must be done before starting every flight which is a pain
6. If I exit and come back in, the 360 minutes are cleared. Worse various checkboxes for specific failures are checked again, regardless of if I save the scenario or not.
I run P3D 5.3.17, Spad.Next, some FIPGauges, ORBX scenery, and never had a problem.
Only new stuff is the World BGL editor to update airports and airways (as recommended on the p3d web page).
Anyone seen this? Any suggestions?
