Well, I never had Navigraphs Simlink installed (as far as I know) and I still do not get rid of those stutters every second completely. Back in v4.5 I was able to elminate them, now in v5.x they are never fully gone. The higher my overhead (I have FPS locked to 30), the lesser they are visible, but never completely gone. This is a real pity as P3D would still by my number 1 IFR tubeliner sim...

I fixed a lot of the stutters I was having in 5.1 by setting the P3D executable to High (above from Normal) in the process tree. Basically giving P3D more CPU cycles.

Well, I am pretty sure it is somehow related to my rather "old" G-Sync monitor (DELL S2716DG) which supports 144Hz but G-Sync only from 30FPS upwards. It seems that I was able to find the sweetspot for v4.5 but unable to do so for v5.x.

What I tried: globally disable G-Sync has no effect. Reducing refresh rate from 144Hz to 120Hz to have an even multiplier of 30FPS has no effect. Reducing further down to 60Hz and using 1/2 refresh rate nVIDIA V-Sync has no effect. Using whatever setting in nVIDIA profile has no effect.

So I am totally lost, those annyoing regular stutters persist, no matter what I do.

BTW: they also persist if I lower the settings so dramatically that I get more than 60FPS, then they are less visible of course, but still there.

Go to your p3d.exe and disable full screen optimizations. This should have significant improvement.

Thanks, but of course this is already disabled...

Just to make things clear (again): those regular stutters seems not to be related to load of the sim or anything, as they remain no matter what settings I use inside the sim. So it must be something else, as mentioned I guess it is related to the G-Sync monitor somehow, as playing around with those settings has the biggest impact (although I am unable to eliminate them completely). But I am simply out of options...

Around this time, I noticed that introducing TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT into Prepar3D.cfg may have the effect of suppressing stuttering.

Then, if possible, you can set the main memory of your PC to 32GB and turn off the paging file. In my environment, the memory used seems to exceed 16GB in some situations.

I see that the recommended setting of [Texture resolution] in [World] / [Terrain] in the add-on is set to the minimum of 7cm. Even if this is set to 60cm, for example, there is no change in the appearance of the photo scenery. However, V-RAM usage is reduced. It will be a valid setting in v5.1.

If you check [Mipmap VC Panels] in [Display] / [View and Panel Settings], VC textures with MIPMAP added will be enabled, and V-RAM usage will be suppressed.

Texture resolution = 60cm / VRAM 7356MB
Image

Texture resolution = 1m / VRAM 7254MB
Image

Texture resolution = 2m / VRAM 7156MB
Image

The image shows Flylogic's Switerland Pro and SION airports. PC-6 that does not support v5 has been made lighter by adding MIPMAP to the VC texture. Because the normal v5 photo scenery can't fly very much.

You can find the maximum LOD by opening the photo scenery BGL file in the tmf viewer. LOD15 (1m) is common for the P3D generation. [Texture resolution] in [World] / [Terrain] may be 2m at the expense of short-range resolution. There is no significant difference between 60 cm and 1 m.

LOD 1 = 19520m
LOD 2 = 9760m
LOD 3 = 4880m
LOD 4 = 2440m
LOD 5 = 1220m
LOD 6 = 610m
LOD 7 = 305m
LOD 8 = 152m
LOD 9 = 76m
LOD 10 = 38m
LOD 11 = 19m
LOD 12 = 9m
LOD 13 = 5m
LOD 14 = 2m
LOD 15 = 1m <- P3D photo scenery

https://www.simforums.com/forums/levels ... 32129.html

[Texture Resolution] under [Display]/[Image and Texture Quality] is Very low - 256x256.

The FS Global Ultimate add-on mesh may need to be turned off. With add-ons for areas that are likely to overlap with ORBX etc.

It might not be a waste to set FFTF to AGL Height Scenerio, set the range above 0.33, and try increasing or decreasing the stuttering.
