What’s the Windows 10 FPS fix??

Post by bkzuidema »

Ok, I’m getting 10 FPS in both 4.5 and 5.0 no matter where the sliders are. Used to get a consistent 30. I’m reading that a recent Windows upgrade is to blame but cannot find definitive content. I’ve turned off Cortana, Game Bar, updated a vodka driver, all to no avail. Has anyone found a clear solution to this issue??

Acer Gigabyte, i7 5960 O/C 4.2 GHz, 16 MB DDR3 RAM, 2x 980TI GPU, Windows 10 Pro, Four 4K monitors in camera mode at high resolution. P3D with no add-ons. With Windows 7, this setup gave me a consistent 30 FPS in v4.5 with full ORBX treatment and Carenado payware A/C with all but the gnarliest real-world weather.

There are a whole host of processes that are going on Windows 10 that can be disabled or switched to manually be turned on. I did a video about it as well other performance enhancing jobs you can do to ensure the smooth running of the sim.... there is a memory tweak, a gpu fix and a cpu enhancement. As well as stream lining the OS for flight simulation. All of the videos can be found on my You Tube channel.. https://www.youtube.com/c/AdamJPestridg ... o7C3JxSido
CPU: Intel Core i7-8700k @ 3.7Ghz
GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090
RAM: 64G DDR4 Core Speed 3200Ghz
OS: Windows 10 (tweaked/modded for Flight Sim Performance)

If you go on YouTube and search for "britech09" you'll find a whole slew of useful videos about tuning Windows 10. removing junk and bloatware, installing required libraries etc etc.

I'm very interested in the vodka driver, where can I obtain that? :-)

That driver you mentioned could have an inbuilt bottle neck and induce wavy lines in your system? :-)

Your question did get some interesting replies that I will be exploring. Thanks.

If you have more than one Sound card it can cause weird frame rate issues if not directly assigned in P3D.
