Textures look differently in v5 than it was in v4.5

Post by YoYo »

Hi,
Id like to know about reason and how to solve it. The same textures look differently in v5 than it was in v4.5.

I noticed that textures look very different than it was in 4.5. It concerns model used PBR textures and technology in particular.

Textures outside and inside of the model looks a lot of darker. For example tires - it was greyed in P3Dv4.5 now they are black and details aren't visible like it was in 4.5 version.

Chrome textures ale darker too (like parts from interior) ect.

Here is example external texture from 4.5 (silver), looks ok, and in v5 (near no silver effect, very darker):

Its a new DXT format? Textures must be saved as not DTX1, DXT5, they are new channels, materials look or its a different subject?
Its an issue or its another way to solve it?

Pls for reply.

Ok next proof of this issue, not my screenshot, A2A PBR model and skin in v5:

After a little reasearch - it looks like ... shader problem in v5 of metallic effects and shining. Is it true?
So all metallic effects on PBR models gone ...

After more investigation, this problem appears when Dynamic Reflections are turned on:

Tire example - all dark part looks more darker also:

btw. maybe no shadres for Dynamic Reflection in v5? They were lost along the way? ;)

In v4.5 they look ok.

Not my text but I found post like this:
OK, so I had a go at P3Dv5 and it appears that for the time being, the new shaders break my metallic skins. LM said they fixed the night time metalics from rendering black, but in V5 my daytime skins rendered wayyyyyy too dark. I spent a few days trying to resolve the anomally, but it looks like an issue with shaders.

I have been trying to tweak a few things. Dynamic reflections off. Tweak Env and fresnal5. Not great but better. Waiting to see if there will be an update.

Yes this it temporarily tweak for this issue but it doesnt solve this problem and only masks it.
Dynamic reflections "ON" is a good option only as it was before :).

Questions.

Your first screenshot is from A2A aircraft, correct?

Have you asked A2A if their aircraft is updated for P3Dv5?

But why?
Metallic textures of PBR looks different than in P3Dv.4.5.
No any reason and reply from LM about this changes, every develeper has problem with Dynamic Reflection "on".

For your question - yes, I asked, they wait for LM reply also.

Ok,
I see.
You replied :
"yes, I asked, they wait for LM reply also."

So, you are trying to get an answer from LM right now, I understand.

Generally the developer works directly with LM, then updates their product(S), then gets the updated product out to users.

It takes time.

I have not installed any Add-on products for P3Dv5 yet. Waiting for them to be updated for P3Dv5.
So, I have not noticed the problem you reported here.

So Here is the reason why you dont see this issue but it exists:

Pity that LM till now dont give any kind of reply, its issue and will be solved in HT1 (like missing shaders for example) or its not issue/the intended effect and reply how to save file in v5 with Dynamic Reflection=ON for metallic effect from now if old skins doesn't work (for example by new SDK and what option here).

Here is example of the same question: viewtopic.php?f=6311&t=135771 .

Hello,

There were several lighting updates made in version 5. Dynamic Reflections were changed to make reflection probes now properly filter all mips. At high smoothness values there may be differences between v5.0 and v4.5. The brightness of the dynamic reflection probe was reduced, based on developer feedback, to be more in line with non-metallic indirect lighting.
