ATC window greyed and not active

And did you try this one, the most easiest?

I deleted the default flight from the menu and restarted P3D.
P3D comes up with LM's default.
I just pressed OK, so it became loaded. ATC window OK.

Looks simple and I have all my add-ons running.

No luck...
For what it is worth to solve the issue:
when activating the ATC popup AND hitting the menu bar, the ATC window shows ATC Disabled - Menu Active.
As long as it concerns tuning frequencies...it works... else none.

Just to verify:
Which menu bar ? Like the top menu to select Options etc?

Have a look earlier in this thread about how to temp fix it by re-saving a new default scenario. My findings are this bug crops up when you make mods to p3dv4.2. Have a look for my last few posts on the prev page i think.

Update #2

As promised.

1. I have now added 21 more scenery entries and ATC is ok.
2. I can load up a default flight or not, change a/c, use flt planner internal or external and yet ATC is ok.
3. All the added sceneries have been moved from Addon.xml to Scenery.cfg.
4. Flew a dozen or more of flights and ATC is ok.

Side note:

- I had trouble with the last scenery added this am. 29Palms LGSK. P3D would CTD everytime I wanted to fly out of LGSK.
- Checked everything, everything seemed ok.
- Checked the add-on.xml and it looked ok (in text form) but it wasn't.
- Loaded up the add-on.xml with XML editor and it showed UTF-8, changed it to UTF-8BOM.
- No CTD in P3D now and ATC is ok.

Will report again in couple of days

i tried this, didnt work and i had to recover the cfg file from a backup

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your patience with this issue and thanks to everybody posting their findings to help us track it down. We found the cause and will have a fix in the next update. Currently, the best fix we are aware of is to delete your Prepar3D.cfg and let it regenerate at startup.

Oh, my goodness. I made a mistake. I deleted the default file and NOT made a new one.
Then P3D comes with its own default and all my add-ons are running ok and I have no problems with the ATC.

ive also had the issue problem of deleting my p3d config file having no impact when this problem strikes.

the only thing I found works is the re-saving and loading of the default scenario.

Hi all
Just to add to the very long thread
I continue to have had the same issue in 4.2 ( started after 4.2 install )
No atc. tried every trick . default scenario. Im working too hard at it
Gave up and will wait for a fix
Thanks to LM for recognizing this as is issue.
Hopefully a hotfix soon

Here is one tiny thing that can maybe help sort out the grey box mystery
I have a grey box but for some reason if i manually tune a atc freq i randonly will here atc in the background
Maybe just some graphic issue becuase i actually was hearing "centre" in the background

Just some additional fodder, Dont know if it helps.
