Re: Stock i9 9900k Low Fps issue

The UK2000 Heathrow is the worst performing scenery I have installed. I don't know why yet, I found improvement by moving a few sliders to the left but still not acceptable. I have a 7700K 4.8GHz with 2x 1080Ti SLI and taxiing EGLL my frame rate drops to 12 fps from my locked 20 fps. None of my Flig...

Re: CPU Primary Core Utilization Always 100%?

From what I've read here, P3D is designed to fully utilize core 0 (I wouldn't call it the primary core, that's a little misleading in a multi threading environment). This is not a problem. Do not try to "balance" the loading of each core, you'll get nothing for your effort. You may get better result...

Why not ask this question in the PMDG Support Forum, a user to user forum that supports exactly this kind of query.

Re: Titan RTX question & P3D 4.4+ optimisation...

The 11GB I have available in my 1080Ti x2 SLI never loads to more than 9GB... I cannot imagine that spending money on 24GB would be money well spent for flight simulation. Also, I want to point out that using the maximum amount of memory is not any kind of measure of merit. The amount of memory in u...

Re: New Sim

The problem with tweaks is that every system is different. What works best you your machine may not work well at all on mine. The best thing to do is to start without tweaks and then slowly add them as you find the need to do so. Unlike FSX, P3D does work quite well with default settings.... except ...

Re: New Sim

The way you eat an elephant is one bite at a time. You might be biting off too much if you last simulator was FS2004. I recommend you set up a single screen workstation and become familiar with P3D, the various display options, how to add on 3d party products and the user interface in general. There...

Re: EDDF - missing runway

He did... and he even provided a link to the Aerosoft product. The only two solutions are to use a 3d party addon such as Aerosoft (I have this one and it is a good product) or modify the airport yourself with ADE (Airport Design Editor). LM is not going to be updating their global default sceneries...

Re: ntdll.dll crash between Greenland and Canada Prepar3D v4

I also note that Umberto has posted a bglmanx64.dll as a possible fix for this bug today (over at fsdt forums). I'll try and test it on the weekend. I tested that module for Umberto yesterday, I presume because I have talked about having a scenario that reliably reproduces the crash event. By all m...

Re: tesselation set

Tessellation improves the appearance of mountains and ridges, applying sharper edges and peaks than obtained from mesh alone. Regardless of your display mesh setting, you are not going to see better definition that available in the mesh files and the default ones use a very course mesh setting.

Re: ntdll.dll crash between Greenland and Canada Prepar3D v4

Dan, have you tried your scenario file that reliably crashes with scenery directory 0201 (hudson bay crash area) or 0301 (labrador crash area) completely deactivated?
That is a good idea. I'm running a test now and it that doesn't turn up anything I'll give that a shot. Thanks.

Re: Texture Resolution

Texture resolution has little to do with the resolution of your display screens, which by the way at 1K (HD) is far less than the current popular use of 4K displays. Texture resolution can refer to scenery objects or terrain, and these are separate settings. Most commonly, the setting is assumed to ...

Re: corrupt logbook

I developed a logbook editor that is free and available in the AVSIM library. With over 3000 downloads I've not had reports of any bugs (other than some 3d party addon aircraft indicate wrong category but that is on them). Search on the keyword LogEdit 3 or my name (Dan Downs). It will not repair th...
