I use the same rules with FSX as I do with P3Dv5. I only activate the scenery I'm flying over, P3D, like FSX is a scenario based simulator. You can delete the folder and P3D will just regenerate it next time it starts up. I always delete it after I update my graphics card drivers or when I install a new graphics card.
