I think that I have found the cause of the problem. Initially, I had installed v5 onto E/:SSD > Program Files. I should have installed in onto Program Files > Lockheed Martin > P3Dv5. This is the 5.1 version. Thinking of upgrading to v5.2.

It has run well in the past but I have just installed it onto an SSD drive from the C drive

After selecting initial aircraft, airport and runway, The monitor(s) turn black when the OK button is pressed and the only way to get back to the desktop is to click on Ctrl>Alt>Del with the option to choose Task Manager to remove P3Dv5.
Thus, there is no way that I can use the program.
