On buying an i5, you don't want your girlfriend to react like this:

Re: GPU Choice - Memory Capacity or Type?

You would be better off financially by getting a 9900k I'm not insane, hear me out. Except for use in a budget flight sim machine, the i5 is almost worthless as a value proposition TODAY. In a few years, it won't be worth the sand that went into the Silicon chip it came from. But the i9 9900k is the...

Re: Which is better for P3Dv4, AMD or Intel

Everyone thinks different and everyone has different experiences with processor all I know with my experience is Intel and AMD are great processors for desktop computers but AMD is known to be better for gamers and AMD works a lot better if it’s cooled by liquid , Intel is more stable for work or e...

Re: Question to the developers CPU 16 cores

Question to the developers Prepar3d is very CPU heavy and my question is if a 16 cores e.g. 3950x brings benefits. my 9900K specially orbx germany with fslabs a320 fall the fps at the landing approach to approx. 25 fps. - 33 fps blocked shadow, HDR, is off, etc. Prerpar3d skates quite well with the...

Thankyou for posting results. What are the display settings you are using when achieving those frame-rates?

My addendum to the JorgenSA post immediately above: Add another simple check, "Confirm XMP memory timing is enabled in the system BIOS" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As a caveat to the clean out the...

Re: 2019 build for p3d v4.5- here I. go again!!

Also, relatively poor memory timing can be masked under some expected flight-sim situations. Every graphics card on the market is made to handle 1080p graphics, and you are likely to see processor improvements drive the frame count higher with better RAM. However, if you are planning to run Triple 4...

Re: 2019 build for p3d v4.5- here I. go again!!

Best memory advice is simple: Remember, Check in BIOS to CONFIRM that XMP is TURNED ON/ENABLED. [Recently, I was helping another in troubleshooting a system which had appeared to be under-performing with P3D. One of the things I advised was confirming XMP timing profiles were enabled in BIOS, which ...

Re: Upgrade my GPU?

Also, waiting til next year covers the spread, just in case Lockheed-Martin holds true to historical form, releasing a new generation of Prepar3D every couple of years. How old is Prepared v4, now? Everything we know about planning and sourcing a build optimized for Prepar3D may need to be thrown ou...

Re: Upgrade my GPU?

Going from 4790k to 6700k gets you much faster DDR4 RAM support (4790k boards overwhelmingly supported DDR3 only) I think buying anything less than a 9900k will feel dated in two years when EVERYTHING new will be programmed for the next generation of consoles in mind which are all 8-core/16-thread p...

Re: Monitor upgrade

But, for what it's worth, here are some numbers: The best deal I've ever seen for 1440p, 27" 144hz was an on-sale price of $279 @ NewEgg for the Acer XG270 [purchased circa Dec1,2018] . So that's $840 minimum for a three-screen setup, assuming the sale had not been LIMIT ONE PER CUSTOMER. Non-s...

Re: Monitor upgrade

Not in Prepar3D. If you are pushing over 100+ frames, then you should up the textures, go to 1m landmesh resolutions and up the reflection and draw distances!! I'm kidding (kind of). I think the problem with 144hz for your simulator is the inevitable draw to go tripple-monitor. That will become absu...

Re: Viewtracker?

Unfortunately, the head tracking is not calculated by onboard integrated hardware like in TrackIR. Instead, it's a calculation offloaded onto the primary CPU through software. The website says too expect a 5% hit on CPU recurses. Damn shame. I wanted to use Tobii, but dammmit I need my CPU's! I gues...
