A word to the wise: UPDATE your FSUIPC AND WIDEclient. So Jorgen, The culprit causing my problem was also running my keyboard! V5.4 back to normal.

Sooo... as of 04FEB24, P3Dv5.4 hangs began again! I updated BIOS and made sure Win11 was updated along with checking system files and, as mentioned above, I updated FSUIPC & Wide Client... and after a partial good flight the hangs started again.

I eliminated addons, one by one... again, no joy. I was on the verge of uninstalling and reinstalling everything (100's of addons). Then, by a stroke of luck, I saw a post by <agfreeman> mentioning a change in affinity mask; basically, not using core 0 and only using physical cores. So I configured my affinity mask the same. The result was amazing; frame rates doubled, no random hangs, I could switch tasks without hangs etc. etc.

It worked!!! No more hangs. Am currently on a flight from EBLG to HRYR using the PMDG 48F, ActiveSky/ASCA, all ORBX, 100% AIG tfc, MAIW, Pilot's 2024 Mesh, Black Marble lights and stars, PF3 ATC on networked PC, with all sliders to the right. Basically the first flight that hasn't overloaded my CPU (NOTE: during ALL of these hangs the Task Mgr. always showed CPU usage at ~97%, with core 0 always at 100%, and PC fans would be at max speed).

Am currently entering Malta FIR on abv flight and all is still smooth as silk.

I guess Task Mgr data should have alerted me to the real problem.

Will report back at end of EBLG/HRYR flight or sooner if I get hangs.
rgds to all and a huge THANK YOU to <agfreeman>,

While reporting Hangs was your affinity mask the P3D default affinity mask or one you configured?

It was the default mask causing the hangs.

Can you share the AM settings that fixed your Hangs (so far)?

The job scheduler information is processor specific, so it needs to be calculated for each processor, so you may not be able to use it unless you have the same processor specs.

http://izn-flightsim.s3-website-us-east ... esetAnchor

For the record though, for an i7-13700K, 16 Core(s), 24 Logical Processor(s) to not use core 0 and only use physical cores, it's:

[JobScheduler]
AffinityMask=16777215
P3DCoreAffinityMask=16667988
MainThreadScheduler=0
RenderThreadScheduler=1
FrameWorkerThreadScheduler=2

I am aware of that.

I asked the OP what values he used.

Were you answering for the OP?

sorry, I have an i9 12900 16/24. Kind of similar and I used the affinity mask calculator that is on the AVSIM forum.

By the way, still going strong!

Thanks for the providing the previously requested information.

P3D staff tracks these problems.

I personally I do not use AM and have not encountered the problem you reported using P3D5 xxx versions.

Sorry for the confusion. The stock AM 16777215 caused the hangs. 16667988 works and I am using cores 0, 1 & 2. I've put up with these hangs for so long that I'm tired of thinking about it... But it goes without saying that I am still more than willing to help using my very limited knowledge of what the heck I'm talking about!!!

Still going strong, by the way.

Thanks for the providing the additional information and Processor (i9 12900) in use with the modified AF.

Glad to hear you have not had the problem again in your most recent testing.

P3D staff tracks these problems so it is good to keep the topic updated on your next flights.
