V5.3 to V5.4
V5.3 to V5.4
Do we have to uninstall V5.3 before installing V5.4?

Yes, just uninstall 5.3 over the windows apps menu and install the new version. Don't touch the addons, they will be there again this way.

Re: V5.3 to V5.4
I was wondering the same.
The manual suggests that if this is classed as a minor update, if I have this right, then we can just install the client. After uninstalling the old one.

Re: V5.3 to V5.4
Thanks. I assume you mean to use the windows control panel to remove all components of V5.3 when doing a full install of V5.4?

If you want to do a full install of v. 5.4, then you need to make sure that all remains of v. 5.3 are removed. And that may screw up your existing add-ons.
To do a complete removal, then after you have done the uninstall from control panel, then in File Explorer go to the drive where P3D was installed, and in the search box type:
prepar3d v5
Let the search run, and delete what was found. If the drive where P3D was installed is different from your C: drive, then repeat this on the C: drive. On the C: drive there will be some items that cannot be deleted, just leave them be.
Now reboot, and then install the new version, and do remember to run the installer as Administrator.
All this, however is not necessarily necessary, I did it by uninstalling scenery and then client, and then installing client and scenery.

Re: V5.3 to V5.4
Thanks for confirming that, I've just updated mine, but I did client and content as I believe that is all that has changed?
Re: V5.3 to V5.4
Not sure about content, but I think I saw something about airports being worked on a while back, that's why I did scenery.

Re: V5.3 to V5.4
Ahh, ok thanks, I might take a look at that at the weekend....hopefully they might have addressed the issue with the airports requiring max settings to see some buildings.
For what it's worth to anyone reading, I had some issues running it after updating: BSD, DXGI hung errors. When I finally got in the cockpit (without changing any settings, just third time lucky running it), I had no VC, or certain elements were just hanging in mid air. Happened on all aircraft. All sorts of weirdness. A clear of the shader cache fixed that and all is good again with the world.
I don't know if I'm experiencing the mandela effect, but the Orbx scenary I have looks much better..... Everything just seems 'smoother' too...
