Dual GPU question

Post by pluckas »

We're running a multi-channel setup of P3D v5. The "scenery" PC uses two GPUs to run 5 monitors. The front 3 monitors are powered by a 2080Ti, and the 2 side 'windows' are powered by a 1080Ti.

The 1080Ti experiences frequent crashing, and we are starting to wonder if the mismatch between two different GPUs on the same MB is partly to blame.

Replacing both with two matched 3060 Ti cards is now an option, but I'm left wondering if moving 'down' to 8GB of memory might present other issues. I'm also keen to preserve our current performance, and wonder where the 3060 Ti vs the 2080 Ti sits in that regard.

We're running all 5 monitors at 1080p, and I'm yet to see any evidence of running out of VRAM at this resolution.

The budget for two matched graphics cards currently tops out at the 3060Ti, though could possibly be 3070, if "non Ti" is also worth considering.

Any advice on GPU replacement gratefully received.

Paul
