mso20win32client.dll

Post by 86SWONAVY »

P3D,

Greetings.

I am having a CTD with the following fault module path and I am having difficulty isolating the root cause. My hope is to see f there is a troubleshooting technique to avoid having to conduct a complete OS reinstall. I'm curious how Microsoft Office and P3Dv5 are connected in any way? Fault troubleshooting has directed the issue to Microsoft Office, however, I am confused about how P3DV5 and Microsoft Office are connected. I am running the latest Windows install, and Microsoft Office version 18.2008.12711.0

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you require anything further.

I started experiencing this error after I ran Windows Update a couple of weeks ago. I fixed the problem by going to Add or remove programs, select Modify for the office program and run Repair.

Best regards,

Louis

I also was getting this error after an MS Office update got installed last week. I just uninstalled office from my simming machine, and the CTDs have cleared up.

I have MS 365 Personal, no problem to report.

Is your MS Office an older version?

Nope, using the most recent MS365. Everything worked great until a Office "Security Update" got installed on the 20th of December. I rolled back the update initially, and the CTDs went away, but the incessant forced MS updates kept reinstalling the update every evening, and the CTDs kept coming back. I just went ahead and uninstalled MS 365 completely and no problem since. I don't need office on my simming computer. I guess the big question is, why is a flight simulator linking Office libraries in the fist place?

ALCON,

Thank you for the feedback as I'm not alone in having this issue. I too question why P3D is pulling or communicating with Microsoft Office in the first place. I find that odd.

Here are my troubleshooting efforts thus far:

-Reinstall P3DV5 (no effect)
-Uninstall Microsoft Office (P3D does not load menu. P3Dv5 still in task menu, but will not load)
-Reinstall Microsoft Office (CTD intermittent)
-Registered DLL files via CMD Prompt (issue not resolved)
-Installed OutByte PC Repair (No effect)

I'm contemplating a complete OS reinstall but I don't see how that will fix a DLL issue.

Louis,

Thank you for the tip. I completed that troubleshooting advice however the root cause has yet to be isolated.

This appears, the issue at hand that is, to be an Office Problem. Now my understanding is that Microsoft Office is a stand alone program, not subject to updates. That understanding, if I uninstall and do without Microsoft Office, P3D does not load. On the other hand, if I upgrade from Microsoft Office 2019, to say a newer version, 2020? Would that resolve the issue?
My thought process is that is another $150 expenditure just to resolve a DLL file?

And if it doesn't, I now have 2 versions of Office.

Additionally, the thought of purchasing Office 365 isn't appealing because that's a yearly subscription and I dont know if I can justify the monthly expenditure.

@ 86SWONAVY ,

My understanding from my Old Office (2010 I think it was?) version is that MS is no longer updating it (supporting it?).

I got the Office 365.

Maybe give Office Support a call or E-mail.

I must be completely misunderstanding the version of Office I have. I have Home &Student 2019 my thought process is that I have Office 2019. From what I read the latest Office updates are for Office 2010?
Again curious as to how this DLL is connected with P3dv5, and how to update Office to latest version.

Or do I have to subscribe to Office 365, which, at the current moment is NOT installed on my computer.

@ 86SWONAVY ,

You are ok with Office 2019 as far as I can tell.
Comes with Security updates but no Upgrades.

You paid $149 (US) for the software, correct?

I am not having that problem with MS 365.
