Resolution message at bootup?

Post by unc1rlm »

From time to time, when I first boot up and before I enter my password to go on into Windows 10x64 (latest update) I get this message that pops up about P3dv4 minimum resolution settings. I get a window that shows some icons and the black load window for p3dv4. I click ok, ( i guess to set the resolution right) the icon window shuts down and the black P3dv4 window disappears and then it goes on into bootup. I am using a RX580 and I believe the drivers are up to date.

Any ideas? It doesn't do it all the time but from time to time.

Thanks,
Bob M.

I am getting this now as well. Windows 10 1709 build, NVidia 1070Ti (Asus) on driver version 390.77.

Maybe it is related to the change to 390.77. I haven't got round to denying Windows Update the capabaility of updating hardware drivers. That is something I always preferred to do myself in the past... The 390.77 update was fairly recent and I belive I was on some 388 version after I set up this new system (i5-8600K@5GHz on 16Gb 3200MHz RAM and M2/500Gb for system and EVO 1Tb SSD for P3D).

Any thoughts?

I get the same. About every week or two. I think it has been from the 4.2 update. I have updated the graphics driver once since then. My screen resolution is defaulted to higher than what it requests in the P3D message box.
Win 10, GForce 1070, Nvidia update driver from about 2 months ago.

Hi Everyone,

Can you post a screenshot next time you see this message?

A bit difficult but I will give it a try next time it pops up.
As we say, this box comes up BEFORE you log in. A screen capture to our directory or cloud may not work.
Thanks,
Aussie

I, also, get this, but I thought it is because I shut down my laptop while p3d is still closing.

For those seeing this did you sleep or hibernate your machine while Prepar3D was still running? Windows 10 will auto-start the application again when resuming the machine.

Rob,
I have had this situation a number of times now. I have never tried sleep or hibernate on my PC.
I had assumed it to be a new 'facility' in a Windows update that tries to restart the last running app.
But then, it does not happen every time.

It happened again for me yesterday as I started the PC but I could not get a screen capture before log in and I didn't have my phone available to take a photo of the screen.

In my case, my hardware is a full size MSI based tower PC running Win10x64 that I use almost exclusively for running P3D and driving my 737 cockpit hardware simulator connected to another PC.
The PC does not sleep. (i.e.. I haven't seen the screen ever go black while I am simming). I shut the PC down each time after having closed P3D by selecting the menu bar option. As far as I know, P3D has exited the system before I select the Windows Shut down command.
