Go to windows update, find the one you don't want, right click on it and it will let you hide the update.
There is also this TROUBLESHOOTER tool to hide a specific update.

Hello pilots,

I suspect times an error in the framework version.
I have only the version 4.0.30319 on it and not as requested the version 4.6.2.
Since with the Windows 10 update but the Framwork version 4.7.0 already on it is, I can not install the version 4.6.2. Windows says it does not work.
Does anybody have a solution ?
Update can not be disabled with Windows 10 version 1703.
Also consider time interressant what LM has to this problem for solution ..
I have P3dV4 already - but no Airbus or Boeing and IVAO is not yet synonymous for testing.
Without solution, I can unfortunately no longer further - test - pity actually.

It would appear these problems are related to the latest Windows update. Can someone post all the files updated in this latest batch so that they can be isolated or removed to see if Prepar3D runs without causing CTD

Ralph_E wrote: Fri Sep 15, 2017 4:42 pm I have tried round about 40 attempts in the last hours and days and I now reproducibly have this:

P3D v3.4 runs fine if all(!) addon sceneries in the config file are switched off. In addition a standard aircraft must be selected and loaded by the welcome screen. Then P3D loads without error. After loading, I can switch to an addon aircraft via menu VEHICLE/SELECT and load my addon sceneries via menu WORLD/SCENERY-LIBRARY. This wasteful work-around works and I can fly !!!!

But when I activate only one addon scenery in config file or select an addon airplane in the welcome screen, P3D get the loading error and crashes. No matter which manufacturer the addon is from!!! So, I think that it is definitely not a problem of the addons. It should have something to do with the loading process of P3Dv3.4.

Also reproducibly: After uninstalling KB4038788 the problems disappear.

The same problem, the same finding and agree with Ralph : something to do with the loading process of P3Dv3.4.

LM please fix it somehow - you cannot expect people using p3d without 3rd party add-ons. Disabling Security update is just a workaround but you cannot expect us to leave it uninstalled as it's a SECURITY update.

Thanks

same problem here. I am not an expert-- but just uninstalled the update KB4038788-- and Prepar3d (3.4) ran smooth again.
System: Windows10, 64bit.
A solution would be most welcome!

After some trials I too had the crash in P3Dv3, not in default cab start up flight but as soon as I would load add on aircraft like PMDG which use DLLs.

I went to Windows10 update.
I took the network plug out (to cut Internet) so that on reboot it does not automatically redownload the KB4038788 update.
I uninstalled KB4038788 update.
Rebooted.
Disabled Windows Update from SERVICES (changed selection to STOPPED) not from the Windows Update page which only pauses it for few days.
Reconnected PC to Internet.

And at least this way I can for now fly P3Dv3 until a FIX is found without worrying for updates.

Look for "wushowhide.diagcab", with this tool you can select a specified update to prevent the same.

I started having the same crash (crash when loading got to 100%) but I noticed that it only crashed when I launched P3D using FlyInside. If I launched P3D using its icon, it would not crash. I purchased the Alabeo Sport plane and installed it the day after the KB was installed so I initially thought that was the problem. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and then just uninstalled it but that did not help. I uninstalled and reinstalled FI and that did not help. I uninstalled the client portion of P3D and reinstalled but that did not help. I deleted the P3D cfg file and let it rebuild it. That did not seem to help. I uninstalled FSUIPC and reinstalled and at some point after that, the crash seems to have gone away. I am not sure if FSUIPC was the culprit or not but I still have the KB installed and P3D is now working fine. I am running P3D 3.4 by the way and I have add on scenery and the Alabeo plane running with the KB installed.

Hello
In trying to find a workaround without uninstall KB4038788, i found this :

1 - The issue happen only on welcome screen.

2 - I can keep all my addons and activated (sceneries also) without re install anything.

3 - On the welcome screen, select a standard A/C (for example F22) and choose an airport without any scenery addon (it mean far away of your home) then click GO.

4 - Once the sim is loaded and you are on the ground, you can change your A/C and change the airport with any addon ; even you can load a saved flight.

A bit touchy but not so much.
That's all and it works.

Personnely, i'll do like this in wainting the LM update (instead of unisnstall KB MS update).

This process shows that the issue happen only on the welcome screen. Once you are in the flight, there is no problem.

Can confirm latest windows update breaks v3 and causes horrific stutters in v4. Uninstalled windows most recent update and things work fine again.

Are you using Win7 or Win10?

All ok here with Win7-64

@Livingston: Cannot confirm it happens on welcome screen. It happens just after loading a flight (even the default one). Before that everything is fine, then Cockpit appears and runway-- and crash .
Eventlog says (it is in german, but you can see that no faulty module or package is specified):
