I am only really beginning to notice how bad the shadow quality is
for user aircraft, sim objects and Autogen. Despite having good FPS
with high shadow setting, certain shadows are very flashy and jittery.
I don't even mind the jagged edges that much but the Flashing and jittering!
Jezz! Does anyone know a fix or a way to improve this situation.
I'll upload a video to illustrate.
Here is the video:

Any suggestions much appreciated

Hey Avidean,
There are a number of settings inside your Prepar3D configuration to control shadows at a more fine grain level then the in game settings. Some are documented inside the Learning Center under Lighting Settings.
From the video it seems like your shadow casting distance is set to far for your shadow map resolution, you can solve this two ways. You can reduce your casting distance or you can turn up the shadow map texture size inside your Prepar3D.cfg, it might even require a combination of both depending on the detail you want on small pieces of geometry.
It appears you are having an issue with ground shadows, you should find GROUND_SHADOW_TEXTURE_SIZE=2048 inside your Prepar3D config. You can try increasing this to 4096 and adjusting the log partitioning of which ever setting you want to use. You can find documentation about the log partitioning inside the Learning Center.
Thanks,
-Kevin.

Kevin, Thanks for the great support
I tried the changes to the Prepar3D.cfg
you suggested and I an really a happy with
the results of 4096. Its not perfect.
Sometime I still see the shadows flick
or blurry but when they are displayed
correctly they are razor sharp and
100% suspend disbelieve to the point of
being there
The problem was likely self inflicted
as I was experimenting 512 textures in
the cfg to avoid ooms and the entry was set
to 512 as apposed to the default of 2048

Here is a similar video with GROUND_SHADOW_TEXTURE_SIZE=4096

Notice that some of the shadows are blurry and flickering
a little but then come into sharp focus. For example the light
standard shadows and Antenna shadows. Any way to improve this?
