Well thank you Rob for at least letting us know that the problem is being worked on.
Please keep us updated on progress for a fix.

F22 and South Pole for me also, then all good.

The fabulous Manfred Jahns freeware C-47 v3 does not crash the sim, you can select aircraft and airport with no crash.

Interesting... therefore it can't be Orbx causing the crashes everyone's experiencing.

Nothing to do with Orbx.

The sim worked perfectly before the KB update

I took Orbx Off and the sim still crashed with the payware aircraft.

Well today's adventures with P3D v3

The flight I wished to do
Melbourne Victoria Australia to Adelaide , capital city of the state of South Australia. A nice little one hour flight.
My Aircraft, PMDG B737-800

So first it is onto my other computer and print out the SIDS, enroute, STAR, localiser info and ILS, great, ready to move over to my sim computer.

Fired up P3D and did the quick trip to the Antarctic in the F22, nice clear day down there today, end scenario then new scenario, positioned my trusty 737 at YMML, gate xxx, cold and dark.

Fired the old girl up and ready to input my flight info, I like to do it manually.

Decided to do a gate start before push back, everything running perfectly and ready for push.

Once my aircraft is ready to make a movement I hit backspace + minus to push my virtual seat back a little for a better view and instrument scanning, which I did CTD, sim is not responding, great, a $3000 dollar computer, a $200 P3D sim and a $200 B737, and I can't get off the gate.

So next it is take off my virtual captains uniform and go out the back to throw stones at the cat.
The cat is okay, I missed every throw.

Did you try the new Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4040724)

I have a Prepar3Dv2.5 operated with Windows 10. It appears only, when I start selecting one of the MEGA airports.
So I found a way to illeminate the crashes.
I disable the start window, and start the P3D again.
Then it runs to Langley with the raptor as aircraft.
Now I change to the aircraft, I want to use and after it,
I change to the airport, I want to use.
No crashes at all !!

Tried a clean install. Still crashed. Removed the P3D V3 Files in the documents folder and it ran ok even with ORBX. Then I exported a control setting and at the next start-up it failed again. Uninstalling the Wnidows update fixes the issue.
Both V2 and V4 work fine with the Win update.

So is it only P3D v3 that is having this problem, I was under the impression that v4 also had the problem, ????

Kayla Kinzel wrote: Fri Sep 15, 2017 5:29 pm Hello,

Could everyone experiencing this issue please completely uninstall (not just disable) all addons and delete the generated files?

Then, run Prepar3D to make sure it works without addons with the KB4038788 update.

Once that is confirmed, reinstall your addons.

As of now, we have not been able to reproduce the issue, even after installing addons.

Thanks for your patience,
Kayla
Surely you must have enough error logs to find the issue from them, what you are asking is a mammoth task that will take days to complete(my past experience)

This summary of issues caused by KB403878 doesn't provide anything helpful for P3d3 users, but it's instructive in that Mircosoft Edge is also negatively impacted by the update, which seems to place the blame at least somewhat on MS (one would think), since Edge is their "premier" Internet Browser.

At least P3d3 users should be thankful that they don't also have a Hewlett Packard PC:

I understand that LM will be issuing an update for P3D V4 very soon. This may sound good but during the update my PC will automatically also download the offending KB. I am keeping v3 on my PC to be able to fly "old" aircraft add-ons. So, by updating v4 I will be stopping v3 from working unless LM and MS can sort this out.

Removing KB4038788 is a work around but I bet that the imminent MS Win10 Fall Update will look for KB4038788 and if it can't find it will kindly install it for you or fail to install at all.

Just a thought.

Hi
I don't know whether this is particularly helpful but for those that are experiencing this problem the best get around for me has been at start up to change the vehicle to the default Baron 58 and the location to USA/California/Alameda NAS (NGZ) - default scenery for me.

The failures I have been having are at the 100% load position and when trying to load a previous MS Flight Simulator version of the C172 which has been migrated across. The scenery I was trying to load was the Orbx Shoreham Airfield (EGKA) scenery. ASN on a networked PC was not activated at the time.

I have loaded the same C172 but at NGZ and P3D fires up fine. I also tried loading the default Baron 58 at EGKA but at 100% P3d crashed.

I hope this may be of some help.
