Hat Switch not working properly

Post by markr1085 »

I am unable to pan using the joystick hat switch - only while in On Board or Cockpit mode. Works fine in Virtual Cockpit Only and outside views. Can someone please make sense of this?

@ markr1085,

What does " only while in On Board or Cockpit mode " mean?

On the menu bar at the top of the screen:

Views>Change View>Cockpit:
Onboard (Chaseplane) - Hat switch does not work
Cockpit - Hat switch does not work
Virtual Cockpit Only - Hat switch works (able to pan up/down/right/left)

Outside View:
Spot- Hat switch works (pan up/down/left/right
Locked Spot - Hat switch works

Why am I unable to look around using the hat switch on the joystick in the Onboard or Cockpit view, when every other view works fine. Hope that makes sense.

Cockpit view is 2-D only. If one were able to tilt/pan, one would see yhe edges of the viewplane.

Ananda,
I have always been able to "look around" the cockpit.

When did that change?

If you're using ChasePlane, the hat switch needs to be bound in a different way. As I recall, it's via the ChasePlane 'Preferences' menu (you want to bind it to 'pan'). If that doesn't steer you in the right direction (or if that's just wrong :-) ), I'll look at my configuration in the morning (I use ChasePlane for my views too).

As ananda indicated, the 'Cockpit' view is for 2D panels only, which are kind of rare anymore. Over the last few years, that view pretty much only shows scenery and I'm not sure what the hat switch would even do.

Might be a good idea to contact Chaseplane support.
