Huge FPS drop after BIOS update

Post by Camelspider »

Hello !

I updated my Bios because of all this new Intel issues and I also updated P3D to V4.2

After this all I have a huge drop of my FPS. Before I was running limited with around 33 FPS, now I am at around 15 fps, sometimes at 11. I am using medium settings and I have an Intel 8700k, a 1080TI, 32 GB RAM and I am running this Programm in 4k.

Someone similar results and is someone here who have an idea how to increase this again ???

All driver, Windows, P3D and P3d Add-ons are on the latest version.

Thx and best regards

I had the same disappointing performance drop. All drivers etc are up to date.

I noticed the drop on PDMG 777, huge drop in frame rate, 25-30%.

Dell Alienware R6. i7-7700 (4.2) with 16GB; Nvidia 1080GTX with 8GB, 51GB SSD.

Anyone have any ideas?

You can use the freeware tool "InSpectre" by Steve Gibson (Gibson Research) to disable/enable Meltdown & Spectre mitigations that the BIOS/OS updates have introduced (I use it myself).

If you prefer a more hands-on approach, see Microsoft KB4073119 here:

Windows Client Guidance

It's these mitigations that have killed performance in certain situations, especially with older CPUs. More info:
