Ai_player.dll crash during flight

Post by valir »

Some times I experienced v4 crashes without any error messages.
Now I installed the latest version and today during the second flight, without restarting the sim (and moving the mouse from one monitor to the monitor with the P3D) I got a CTD with this error in the event viewer:

A few other users have ran into this issue as well and we were able to pinpoint the cause. We'll have a fix for the ai_player.dll crash in our next update.

New to P3D . Generally love it.... but having the exact same crash...... sounds like it is being worked with Microsoft? Any ideas on when the fix will be in place and, as licensees, do we get notified automatically when an update to the program (v4 in this case) is out?

The ai_player crash is not related to the latest Microsoft update. We have a fix for this and it will be in our next update. We update our website when a new release is out. If you are experiencing a crash at startup it could be related to the latest Microsoft Windows update. There is more information concerning that issue here: https://prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 2&t=126667

So, still getting the odd totally random ai_player.dll crash (plus the odd crash without any Eventviewer errors)....

Am quite keen to start rebuilding my payware weather and aircraft for P3D... had quite a few planes and Active Sky in FSX.

Is it too early to purchase AS4 (weather) and the PMDG 737........... ie should I wait for this ai_player fix to come out..... will I make the situation any worse by buying this payware?

Hello
api.dll and ai_player.dll have started popping up in my error log.
I have not been able to complete a flight lately, with the sim freezing and CTD typically when i turn final after an hour flight.
Last night I tried loading a flight starting at gate F28 at ESSA from ORBX, but the sim CTD directly after loading to 100%.

I had only updated Client to v.4.1, but last night I also updated Content to see if this help.
Will a new clean install be even better?
Have you got an idea what can cause this?

I have a lot of addon sceneries installed, but all is P3D v4 versions.

Norshuttle,

Can you list all add-ons that were installed when seeing this crash? Are you seeing this without add-ons installed? We also have general debugging steps here that could also help narrow down the issue:
viewtopic.php?f=6312&t=123246

If the issue only happens when a certain add-on is installed I also recommend contacting the developer to see if they have a potential fix on their end.

Another option is to send us a crash dump. You will need to have Visual Studio 2015 installed to do this.

When Prepar3D crashes, the option to debug through Visual Studio should appear. Attach to the Prepar3D process and then go to Debug --> Save Dump As to save the memory dump. Feel free to upload that dump to Dropbox or some other file server and PM me a link. Make sure you provide the full version number with each dump.

More details here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/d5zhxt22.aspx

Hi
I read your debugging guide, but as my usual crashes happen after an hours flight, I just don't have the time to introduce one and one addon.
I do get the weird crash when loading into ESSA Gate F28, so I can try that after deleting all recommended folders.

First I will try a full flight from ESSA (loading into another gate) to EVRA where my last crash occurred.
