The current helicopter AP is a welcome addition. I fly helicopters exclusively and have given the new AP a good workout. Below are some additional capabilities that would be very helpful:
1. A hover hold mode. The mode would hold the helicopter at the current altitude and position, to include compensation for any wind effects. Within this mode an ability to uncouple the position hold function while keeping the altitude hold function to allow the pilot to re-position the helicopter (forward/backward, side to side) using the cyclic, then re-couple the position hold function. This capability would be very helpful when performing hoist and sling load activities.
2. AP capture of the current heading, speed, and altitude when each of those functions are activated. At present the AP does not capture the speed or altitude. The heading function does capture the current heading when activated as indicated by the heading bug, however, it would be more functional if it captured the actual current heading of the aircraft and reset the heading bug to that heading.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Danny
Helicopter Autopilot Additional Capabilities
Re: Helicopter Autopilot Additional Capabilities
What I'm thinking is that we should first get realistic helicopter flight dynamics before requesting improved autopilot capabilities. The helicopter flight dynamics is a big joke to be honest, and seriously needs major improvement.
Re: Helicopter Autopilot Additional Capabilities
yes it does, it can hold speed and alt while flying a heading both manual or gpsRCFlyer wrote: ↑Sat Mar 03, 2018 3:13 pm The current helicopter AP is a welcome addition.
