G-Sync not working in PrePar3D v3 and 4
G-Sync not working in PrePar3D v3 and 4
I have an issue with G-sync in PrePar3D.
I run Windows 10 and MSI GTX 1080 GPU with a ROG Swift PG279Q Gaming monitor but the G-sync do not work in PrePar3D.
Even if I set G-sync to both desktop and full screen and use the builtin FPS monitor it shows 144. 120,100 FPS (whatever I choose to run) even when I know that the FPS in PrePar3D is only 40 or 50.
DO anyone else have this problem and do anyone have a solution to this problem ?

The Prepar3D's infotext FPS counter is showing 144/100/120?
What settings are you using for V-Sync and frame buffering?
Does changing v-sync, buffering, or frame limiting affect your results?
Do you have any other applications running? If so, does closing them improve your results?
Thanks,

No,
the infotext counter shows maybe 30 - 130 FPS depending on settings and/or area,
but the monitor have a built in counter that shows the monitor update rate.
This counter should be synchronized with the infotext counter when G-Sync is activated but it's not.
It's only P3D that have this problem.
Is there an overlay on the screen in P3D that is in focus?

No Beau,
The problem resists no matter what the settings are, v-sync on/off, G-sync on both desktop and full screen or only full screen. I use the frame buffering at only 1-2 frames but I have also tested up to 6 frames without any change.
I have now also tested with the frame rate looked at 30 FPS (the P3D slider at 30) the outcome is the same.

Re: G-Sync not working in PrePar3D v3 and 4
I think I found what creates the problems with G-sync In PrePar3D.
I bought and installed the PRO Developer version and in this version the G-sync works just fine.
If I understand correctly the only difference between this version and the Academic version is the "Watermark" in the upper right corner?
If so I think the "watermark" is a separate window or overlay on top of the main PrePar3D window/screen.
This window is recognized by windows as the screen/window in focus, G-sync works only on the window in focus and is synchronizing with the "Watermark" instead of PrePar3D it self.
Since the system has no problem running the "Watermark" at 144 FPS at all times there will not be any variations in the refresh rate even if you/I use the FPS limiter in PrePar3D since this have no effect on the "Watermark".
HELP PLEASE!!!

Re: G-Sync not working in PrePar3D v3 and 4
I agree with this "problem" that also impact classic Vsync : when I run P3D on my 1080p60Hz screen I can't make Vsync work like it should : when activated the result should be a smooth transition when tilting the plane, but in P3D, ok there is no tearing and fps are capped to 60, but the transition when tilting is not smooth. (all other sims I own at Vsync 60Hz are smooth)
It has to be related to this layer with watermark because when I use my oculus rift with P3D, this layer doesn't exist, and the rift is of course running Vsync 90Hz, and this "problem" doesn't occure : tilting the plane is very smooth.

Is there any news about this issue?
The way it is with no working G-Sync lower my overall flight experience.

Re: G-Sync not working in PrePar3D v3 and 4
G-Sync only works above 30FPS. As this 30FPS is the sweetspot for my P3Dv4 setup, I have G-Sync manually disabled, as switching between G-Sync on and off results in terrible flickering of the screen in my case (DELL S2716DG). However, there is an option called "G-Sync Indicator Overlay" in the driver you can activated to see if G-Sync is on or off, you use nVidia Profile Inspector for it. This is the better indication to see if G-Sync is on or not...

Hello,
for me G-Sync dosent work in P3Dv4 Academic on Full Screen.
The rest my games/simulator works fine. I have 388.13 GeForce driver + P3Dv4.1.
Any news about this?
What is strange it works only in windowed mode, but I use for sure only FULL SCREEN.

Btw what is important before Windows 10 update from 3-4 of November 2017 it works for me.
From now not....
Perhaps P3Dv4.1 needs quick fix for this Windows update.

Re: G-Sync not working in PrePar3D v3 and 4
hi YoYo,
if you have recent problems it could be related with 388.13 drivers - try to roll back to 388.0 fresh install.
I say that because 388.13 caused VR problems to me with P3D v4.1 and all other VR sims (big stutters - ASW broken).
I rolled back to 388.0 and problem solved.

Tested drivers 388.00, the same, G-sync after Fall Creators Update Windows 10 (P3Dv4.1) dosen't work also.

Re: G-Sync not working in PrePar3D v3 and 4
Has anyone solved this? My fps counter on my Asus G-Sync screen is reporting a solid 165 fps, shouldn't be changing dynamically with the fps of P3D? I hope this gets solved, this screen cost me a fortune!

Same here with 388.13 drivers; gsync not working
