P3Dv4 Hanging

Post by Jerrymc3 »

I was having trouble with a couple of addon sceneries, namely Aerosoft Berlin Tegel and FsDreamteam Zurich so I uninstalled them through Progam Apps. When I restart P3D it Generates the scenery file indexes but then hangs at 99%. I wait several minutes but it never closes that box. I'm not 100% sure if this is the cause of the problem.

I tried moving my C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4scenery.cfg and C:\Users\Name\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Files to my desktop and restarted P3D but its still hung up. Then I moved the PreparDv4 Add-ons folder to the desktop and P3D brought up the Startup screen. Maybe now I can find which addon is causing the problem.

I'm running 2 copies of P3Dv4 on 2 computers but the Primary computer is Windows10-64 bit and the second computer is Windows7-64bit. I'm wondering if that is causing issues. P3D is working fine on the Windows 10 computer, the 2nd Windows7 computer is the problem. I removed my scenery.cfg file on the Windows7 computer and didn't add anything to the new one P3D generated. P3D loads the flight but after 4 or 5 minutes, even just sitting on the runway and no inputs I get the message that "Prepar3D has stopped working". I installed the latest Windows7 update and updated to the latest Graphics driver. I tried not running P3D on the Windows10 Wideview server computer, just on computer 2 and left for about 40 minutes, P3D was still running. I put my original scenery.cfg file back in and restarted, allowed another 30 minutes and P3D continued to work. Either there is a problem with WideView or more likely a conflict between Windows10 and Windows7.

Check the file scenery.cfg and locate the installed scenery which is not addressing correctly. You need to edit the LOCAL line with the correct location address of where the scenery was installed. If you uninstalled the scenery, such LOCAL line still there. If you don't want the scenery then you need to remove the Area.xxx group.
