[RESOLVED] POV distorsion in P3Dv4

Post by gerodcray »

Hello,
I don't know how to avoid the distorsion of the plane displays (in and out) when using the mouse scrolling. Such distorsion is also visible when using the A key to get different zooms and also when changing the view with the S key. The box 'Wide view Aspect Ratio' is unchecked. There is no problem with these features under P3Dv3. Thank you very much for an explanation.
Best regards
gerodcray

Nota : under P3Dv3 the fact to check or uncheck the above mentionned box works very well. Differences are as expected.

Hello,
I would like adding some information.
1) my configuration : Alienware 15 R3, i7 6700HQ, 32 GB RAM, SSD 512 GB HDD 1 TB, Nvidia GTX 1060
2) P3Dv4 4.0.28.21686
3) a link to a small video to help understanding the problem : http://dl.free/vcMJe05nx

I guess the problem can be solved by modification of the settings but I don't know how.
Thank you for helping

We are having issues with the video link you posted. Can you post a youtube link to this video? Also please ensure this video shows the differences between v3 and v4 that you are seeing. The field of view calculations for cameras have not changed between v3 and v4. Do you see this issue with default content?

Hello,
I don't understand why the dl.free link does not work. It's Ok for me when I try downloading. At the moment I do not have an youtube account. It will be done asap. I did not change default parameters for camera settings in v3 and v4.

Are you using any add-ons that alter camera behavior or modify the field of view? Also are you only seeing this behavior in that specific vehicle?

Hello,
Thank you for helping. The only addons I have are ORBX sceneries and FSUIPC4 (to be used with FSFlyingSchool, but the problem exists without FSFS running). The problem occurs for all vehicles in v4 and always when mouse scrolling. For some planes there is no problem with the A key.
Best regards.

I'm seeing the camera stop on different zoom levels in your v3 and v4 videos. By default the lowest two zoom values when using the mouse for the virtual cockpit camera are 0.30 and 0.40. Your v4 video is showing 0.36. There might be something installed that is interfering with the camera. I recommend going through our general debugging steps to isolate the cause: viewtopic.php?f=6312&t=123246

Hello,
Thank you for searching. As I said before the only addons are ORBX sceneries, FSUIPC and the recently added Alabeo PA32 Saratoga. I think (but I'm not completly sure) I have noticed the problem after the installation of this plane. I did a complete desinstallation of the plane and the zoom problem is still present. I have noted that the xml file prepar3D default may be very different between v3 and v4 concerning the zoom parameter for some camera views. Perhaps it is normal. Note also that everything is OK with the graphic card GTX 1060.

"recently added Alabeo PA32 Saratoga. I think (but I'm not completly sure) I have noticed the problem after the installation of this plane. "

Just wondering if you have searched and seen your problem reported by other pilots on this or other forums?

Are you going to do as Rob recommended for further troubleshooting your problem (debugging steps)?
http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic ... 2&t=123246

Notes:
IMO, better to use a default P3D aircraft (e.g., the Alabeo 300S) to troubleshoot and later demonstrate the problem in your video.

I could not test the P3Dv4 default Alabeo zoom using the mouse wheel because my Ezdok setup only uses the - and = keyboard keys.
But I noted that the - key stops on zoom 0.30 (screenshot).

Hello,
Thank you for answering. I found nothing similar on various forums and instead of desinstalling all my ORBX database I would prefer any idea to modify some internal configuration file as the problem can't be solved by using external settings panels. A complete reinstallation of v4 is my last choice ...
