Every time I startup P3Dv4 I briefly see a box saying "building database", is this normal? What is this database?

Re: Building database on startup?
Michael,
This has to do with scenery getting generated to load within the sim. You should only see this once unless additional scenery is installed or changed. If you are continually seeing this please try going through our general debugging steps to see if an add-on is potentially causing this:

Re: Building database on startup?
Hi Rob;
I followed the P3D "Trouble shooting Procedure" as instructed, and found the problem. It had to do with a program I was using called "Scenery Config Editor" to add and control my scenery. It appears that the editor was not saving the installed scenery using the full scenery location address (X:\???\???\scenery\) but was using an abbreviated form (.\scenery\) and that was causing the database rebuild on every start.
Once I re-edited the scenery location address using the full address it all stopped. The P3D procedure did help.
Many thanks.

Michael.
