[RESOLVED] PBR chrome shows as dark grey colour
[RESOLVED] PBR chrome shows as dark grey colour
I am having issues where the PBR chrome shows as a dark grey (rubber like colour).
P3D v4.5.12.30293 installed (full install), Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 (latest driver). Windows 10 on my C: drive, P3D intsalled on D: drive.
I have tried deleting/rebuilding shaders with no change. I am not aware on having installed any external shaders/tweaks.
Any ideas?

Re: PBR chrome shows as dark grey colour
Further to this previous post, I have deleted P3D and all addons, except the AH Cessna 140 PBR version. Unfortunately a new install of P3D (4.5.12.30293) has made no difference to what I'm seeing.
Re: PBR chrome shows as dark grey colour
When v4.5 first released we discovered that the content had to be updated as well as client to enable the bare metal look.

Re: PBR chrome shows as dark grey colour
I have the same problem.
My PBR chrome on my Prosim aircraft was fine with P3D v4.5 Client, v4.5 Content and v4.4 Scenery.
I have now updated the v4.5HF Client only (not the Content due to very slow download speeds and being told there is no requirement to update Content). I have deleted the shaders. Same thing - grey chrome.
The enquirer said he did the full install and he does not have chrome?

Re: PBR chrome shows as dark grey colour
Hi Dan, I can confirm I have updated not only client and content but the complete sim - I am running only an 'out the box' version with one aircraft addon (which should show PBR but doesn't).When v4.5 first released we discovered that the content had to be updated as well as client to enable the bare metal look

It's the beautiful Cessna 140 by Aeroplane Heaven. I was more familiar with it's younger brother the Cessna 150 in real life, so it's a product I am really interested in. I was totally underwhelmed by the PBR in the Maddog MD-80 with American Airlines livery (Thought it looked far too grey) - I now get why that was!!! Only now need to know what's causing it.

Have you contacted the developer?

Re: PBR chrome shows as dark grey colour
Yes I have - no solution at this stage.
Re: PBR chrome shows as dark grey colour
I have now checked the permissions are all read/write for LM folder and in the Appdata folder. Still no PBR shows.
Another update of the Nvidia driver 430.64 installed with no PBR.
There are possibly more P3D users not realising their PBR is not rendering - I was one of them until installing a chrome based textured aircraft.

Further to this - the LM default F-16 textures don't display either.

Re: PBR chrome shows as dark grey colour
Hello,
Were any add-ons installed that modified core files? Can you post screenshots of the F-16? Are you only seeing this issue with the external model or the internal (VC) model as well?

Rob McCarthy

A GTX1070 8Gb driving 4 screens. I did have silver previously before the HF.
