Hello,

From Vehicle -> Instrument Panel -> Panel Manager, check the box next to AppMenuWindowPanel. Feel free to close the Panel Manager.

Perhaps I'm missing the intent by your expression of "Menu Bar" in VR ??

I was expecting to see the pulldown menus that are available to me in 2d so I may make alterations without removing the HMD headset.

Is this not what LM have done?

Hello,

You will need to make sure you install the Content.msi to obtain the AppMenuWindowPanel.

This version if the menu bar is not horizontal. It is represented as a vertical menu bar through use of a panel in VR.

Hi,

Installed Content.msi

Can now see AppMenuWindowPanel

Ticked that

See a Menu Bar in VR now

e.g. for you - select map - see hourglass in VR

Have to take the headset off to see map and/or do anything

Same applies to just about everything else

So, respectfully, what is the point of the VR Menu Bar if I still have to remove my headset to interact with core things in P3D?

It certainly doesn't do what I think most VR users would have wished for at all?

I do appreciate all your help and want to help also but frankly, I'm a tad disappointed how VR is shaping up on this update and nothing seems to work well or is documented. Its like the testing hasn't been checked enough before you release?

Sorry, for genuine feedback that isnt as good as you'd perhaps like.

Hello,

Thank you for your input.

We do appreciate all feedback and are constantly striving to improve the platform.

The UIs are currently not available in VR.

Menu bar items that do not open a UI are able to be used, such as recalibrating the headset position.

Thanks for you feedback as always. We understand that many menu items launch UI windows that cannot be used while wearing the headset. The point of adding the application menu was to provide access to all the menu items that are useful in VR. Here are just a few of the things you can now do in VR using the menu:

- Open and close instrument panels. This one is particularly important now that 3d panel position/size save and load and can be defined in the panels.cfg.
- Switch views
- Change simulation rate
- Reset Scenario
- Accessing the Virtual Reality menu to re-calibrate, switch modes, enable pass-though cameras and portal sets
- Access any add-on menu items

We strive to make the platform better with every release. Many of our VR features were added in direct response to feedback from VR researchers and developers. To empower that community, we get these capabilities in the platform as soon as we can. As a result, new VR features can be a bit experimental at times. We understand they aren't granting all your wishes today, but we look forward to getting closer with every release.

Thanks,

Good to hear back. Many thanks, appreciated.

AND, good to hear that it seems you have a goal to have a VR user be able to achieve anything a non-VR user can do with the program interface.

Is there a key command to toggle the menu bar or Panel Manager window on/off in VR?

There is a key cammand for menu. I don't recall the exact event name but all the VR specific control events have HMD in their name. I don't believe there is a key event for the panel manager.

Hello,

I believe it's called HMD - Toggle Menu

The Menu Bar sub-sections stay open when selected and don't retract.

The Menu Bar window is mis-sized in 4K i.e. too large.

The Menu Bar crashes P3D directly to desktop.

-------------------

I think this can be classified as a bit of a fail.

I'm not happy to support bug fixing of this approach to a VR Menu System

Hello,

You can modify the size and orientation of any panel via the following controls:

Translate: LeftMouseDown + Shift
Rotate X Axis: LeftMouseDown + Ctrl + ScrollWheel
Rotate Y Axis: LeftMouseDown + Ctrl + '
Rotate Z Axis: LeftMouseDown + Ctrl + PlusKey
Uniform Scale: LeftMouseDown + Shift + Ctrl
Resize Panel: LeftMouseDown + Shift + Tab

Which menu item did you select to provoke the crash?

I was trying many items from the top to the bottom and clicking anywhere in the blank areas to see how to collapse the sub-items which was not working. I was about 2/3rds down that menu list when the whole of P3D simply disappeared (crashed with no error).

As I've said, I'm NO fan of this idea of a VR menu which again, as I've said does not allow the user to in anyway near fully interact with the system menus without the removal of the HMD. The concept is flawed and I'll simply not be using it or trying to use it further. It is simply NOT a VR Menu for P3D and is misdescribed in the update.

Sorry, user feedback!
