Question about Microstutters in P3Dv4.3

Post by WinstonWolf »

Hello ,
Actually i fight again with Microstutters in P3Dv4 . I did an fresh install of Windows and also of P3Dv4.3 .

Here aere my System Setting :

Windows Version : 1809 Build 17763.134
Nvidia Driver : 416.94
No other Software
Fresh install of P3Dv4
No Addons

CPU : Intel 8086K runs with 5GHz
GPU : Zotac GTX 1080TI AMP with 11GB RAM
RAM : 16GB

I did no Tweaks or Nvidia Settings

Whatever i change in the Graphics Settings of P3Dv4 , this did not change the Stutters .

Here you see my System Performance while triying a test :

Image

What can be the reason for this stutters ?

Thanks

A quick look at your picture tells me this:
You need to optimize Win10: reduce the number of crapware (useless software for a flight simming machine that will take resources away)
You need to search the web for this. You will find a lot of results.
People using Win10 might help you here. I use Win7 without the crapware. My default number of processes at startup is 58.

Hello ,

How to find out what i have to disable in Windows for P3Dv4 to runs without stutterts ?

What i do now is to disable the Search and indexer Service and the Memory Compression Service.

Or is it better to install Windows 7 ?

Thanks

Hello ,

As you can see the Core 0 runs allways on 100% when P3Dv4 is running .
The other Cores not.
Can it be the Reason for stuttering ?

Thanks

It is normal and correct to see core 0 fully utilized by P3D. I doubt that your problem is cause by so called "crap ware" or other programs.

If you are running with unlimited frame rate then P3D will minimize the time it spends on each frame to deliver unlimited frame rate. If you limit your frame rate then P3D will spend longer on each frame to match the timing necessary to deliver the frame rate you've set. I run a 4K 60 Hz display with a 24 fps frame rate no VSync and I only see a slight stuttering at the addon airports with poor performance regardless of settings such as UK2000. Others will achieve best results with different settings, it depends on your system. Hope this gives you something useful.

There are plenty of posts out there about configuring, or fine-tuning, P3D for maximum performance. Google is your friend here.

Also, Win 10 needs to be fine-tuned, and the crapware needs to be removed or disabled - here I am actually thinking of something like Cortana and all the privacy-invading tools. Again, Google this.

Your system could also probably do with some cleaning up. In addition to Win 10's own Free Up Disk Space function, I use CCleaner (the freeware version), Eusing's Free Registry Cleanup tool and System Ninja (also the freeware version). These all work for me, but every system is different, and you might find something else that you like better.

Also keep your system updated. I use the Windows Update, but control when this updating should take place. I also use nVidia Experience to update the graphics drivers, and Driver Booster 6 (the payware version) to keep the system drivers updated.

All these tools and utilities work for me. On the flightsim.com you can see that the opinions of some of us there differ as to the usability of the se tools and utilities, but again, this is my personal experience and preferences. Your opinions and preferences might differ and be equally valid and good.

If all else fails, you could try to post your Prepar3D.CFG file here, and I and maybe others could look it over and see if we have some suggestions. But that is a last resort, there is probably a lot you can do before we get to that point.

Have fun -

Today i make new Tests about the Microstutterrs .
Here when i start at Aerosofts Cologne Bonn Airport .

After fresh Installation of Windows and P3Dv4 inkl. Cologne Bonn . Here some Screenshots from Disk Usage and CPU Usage while over flying the Airport .

My P3Dv4 Installation is on an Samsung MZ-V7P1T0BW 970 PRO Internal  SSD 1TB NVMe M.2 . This is an PCi SSD .

This SSD is installed dirct on the PCI Port on the Mainboard .
On the Screenshots , this is Drive E:
Can it be that there is an Problem with this Drive ?

Michael,

Did you try this after the Windows and P3D install, but BEFORE installing ORBX and the Aerosoft add-on?

Also, it seems that you might want to Google "Disable Cortana".

Hello ,

Here an Screenshot from today . Yes i try it without ORBX Stuff .
I try all till now . But with no success , i have again and again the stutters .

At the Moment i install 2 times Windows, i try different Graphic Driver , i try Prepar3Dtweaks like Affinity Mask an FFTF . I try different FPS . Vsync off and on , Tripplebuffer on and off. HT on and off .

At the Moment i think about to end the Flightsim era :-(

Ok Winston,
I think I see in your last shot the actual delay in frames.
One suggestion: try this utility "DPC Latency checker".
It is quite safe and available on the web.
The utility will tell you if you have latency problems (dropouts causing stutters).

So, you run this from the desktop without any programs running and check the results:what is your current latency? It should be in the green with a value of something like 29 microseconds which is fine.

Summary:
if latency is good with just plain Windows running, it will confirm that P3d and/or one of the addon is causing the stutters.
If not, it means something is not ok with the basic system: too many options here to name. But it could be a driver, even just a sound driver.

It may allow you to focus in the right direction.

Do not despair,

Cheers,
Pierre

Hello Pierre .
Where you can see this delays , in which Diagramm ? From CPU or from Graphik Card ?

Are this delays an CPU or an GPU Problem ? Where they come from ?

Thanks

That 40 min test would indicate that the PC is fine most likely.

So, we can concentrate on the P3d configuration:

1. could you show a printscreen of your processes? Type Ctrl Shift Escape. How many processes running? You will see that at the bottom of the Windows Task Manager: Processes:xx CPU Usage: XX% and Physical Memory: XX%

2. Also would you attach your P3D configuration file and/or show a printscreen of the different settings used?

We'll look and discuss the results of 1 and 2 for now.

It would be most interesting to see the Prepar3D.CFG file.
