As far as reproduction, it has been described previously...

1. P3D V4.2 starts up every time with a default set of control and button mappings.
2. I can import my profile and everything works fine.
3. If I change aircraft, P3D will reset to the default startup settings. I can re-import the saved profile and everything works.

This may be related to a specific USB device connected to your machine. We are currently investigating a similar issue seen when using Orbweaver devices. If you disconnect all devices except the controls needed for flight do you still see the issue?

Same symptom with all other USB devices removed...does not retain imported profile as the default...

Can you try with only your keyboard and mouse connected? Also do you have another keyboard and mouse to test with?

Keyboard and mouse is what I used...all other USB peripherals unplugged...I will try a different keyboard and mouse and let you know the results. Side note: the USB devices were the same with V3 and V4 and no issues observed.

Will provide results with diff keyboard and mouse.

I performed a test as requested...removed all USB peripherals except for a different keyboard and mouse. Started P3D . Went to Options/Controls. Only peripherals listed were mouse and keyboard. Tried to import my profile but it would not import. Assume P3D did not see the peripherals in the profile so it would not load the profile. Could not set any axis as there were none to set. Not sure if the test helped.

Thanks for the follow up. If you connect your flight controls with the different keyboard and mouse does the issue persist?

I am having this issue as well. It only happens with 4.2. It also only effects my throttle quadrant. I have a 3 piece quadrant and i change two of them. One to be speed brakes and one to be flaps. It wont save those to axis. I have to reset them everytime i fly

The issue has not been fixed yet in 4.2. I still have to re-import settings every time I change aircraft and each time I start P3D. Did not occur with earlier versions.

Changing keyboard and mouse as was suggested did not change the behavior...If all worked well in 4.1 should work in 4.2. Not sure what changed.

Any updates on this issue in 4.2? Is it fixed in 4.3?

Hello,

We added an additional check when loading controls that may fix what you're seeing.

I also have this issue and it's starting to drive me insane. Prepar3D resets controls back to default.

When I migrated to Prepar3D v4 from FSX last year, I saw this issue. Quite often Prepar3D will revert flight controls back to default. It's a fairly major annoyance With the Saitek yoke/throttle quadrant combo with another add-on Saitek USB throttle quadrant as there are about a half dozen control surface and throttle axis and buttons I have to reset.

I was hoping this problem was addressed in Prepar3D 4.3 on a brand new flight sim rig I built last week with very minimal add-ons (2 PMDG aircraft, a few airports, a few sceneries, FSUIPC, FSRealTime, ASP4 weather, vPilot for connecting to the online VATSIM network) but it's still happening. Axis calibration is also hosed up so that needs to get dealt with as well else flaps can't fully retract or extend. I'm not exactly sure what the root cause is.

I've found various discussions about these settings being maintained and reverted back to their defaults in a file called:

\Users\jason\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Controls\Standard.xml

I understand a few discussed workarounds:
1) Keep resetting the config manually each time I fly. Nope. This is insanity for a $200 product.
2) Change the Standard.xml file attribute to Read Only. Legacy approach that sounds good, but some discussions say it actually won't work for a variety of reasons.
3) Create a desired config and use the Export function once. For each subsequent launch of P3D, use the Import function. Sounds like the best workaround but still requires extra work and doesn't explain root cause. I'll call this mild insanity but getting beat down by FSX workarounds for the last many years, I can deal with it for a little while longer.

I'd like this addressed or explained by the developers.

@ jasonboche,

You have FSUIPC and Saitek hardware.
I use FSUIPC (registeded) to control USB Saitel X52, Saitek Yoke + 6 Saitek Throttles and CH Rudder pedals all hooked up at the same time to control all buttons and axes.

All default and payware aircraft (FS9, FSX, P3Dv3.4, P3Dv4.3) with saved unique settings (props/jets).

Is your FSUIPC registeded?
What are you using FSUIPC for in P3D?
