Problems with snow and ground texture.

Post by ctroncy »

Bonjour,
Could anybody help me to understand how the snow on ground is managed.

1 Take off runway 18R KMCO in winter.
Weather injection using different products (AS for P3DV4)

As you can see no snow on the ground, no snow on the runway.

2 Start rolling on the runway.
Some patches of tiles with snow appears.

3 Load terrain data using the scenery menu .
Everything is OK with snow texture for the grass and the runway.

Do we have to reload terrain data each time the weather change ?

Merci
Cheers

Hello,
falling snow is managed just as you see it, not very well, but there is nothing wrong with the simulator.

Thank you Nick for your clarification.
I was about to ask the same question on the ORBX forum, but I guess I will get the same answer.

Anyway, this behavior is not great and during the take off roll the "snow tiles" popup is very disturbing.
But it is only a simulator.

Be sure you have Orbx Vector water option "frozen surface in winter" turned off. This you will hear from their forum as well.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your answer.
Yes I have "frozen surface in winter" turned off, and also I disabled all my addon to narrow the problem.
So I'll never know what is the reason of this behavior. There is certainly an explication.

Sometimes I wonder if flight simulation hobby is for me. Now with the problem of dynamic light I cannot fly the 737 NGX at night. Unfortunately there is no way to come back to the old light system for PMDG.
And that's only a part of issues. Clouds and snow, kills my 1080 which is running at 100% if I want a not to bad AA.
The only advantage is that it heats the room.

Anyway, thank you Dan for your answer.
