Prepar3D v4 is not starting (due to sound cards)

Post by zepplin139 »

Well I unplugged every one of my USB devices and the one that got prepar3d started was my external soundcard. I have no idea how that would stop the program from launching

Update: Will only launch if my external soundcard is not plugged in. Once I plug it in, I can get no sound through Prepar3d. If i restart P3d then it crashes as it did before

Hello,

For information, I had the same problem and what is incredible is that P3D V4 works when I disable the audio devices (M Audio 1010 lt + Realtek HD) otherwise the simulator crashes before the home screen.

Same here, Win10, unplugged all USB devices with no change. Disables Soundcard ("exotic" Soundblaster Z) and Prepar3d V4 runs like a charm. Re-eabled Soundcard and Prepar3D V4 stops working after the initial Splash Screen.
So the problems seems not to be only related to some USB devices but also to (internal) Sound devices.

For those having issues triggered with sound cards,

Can you list what sound card models you have and if you have installed the updated drivers from the manufacture?

Also, please let us know which operating system you are running.

Do you have multiple audio outputs or is it just the sound card?

If you right-click the volume control icon on the task-bar, you can get a list of record and playback devices. There may be extra items in there such as Nvidia/AMD outputs for HMDI or headphones integrated into the Oculus Rift of HTC VIVE.

Hi guys,

as promised i tested the solution of LM to disconnect all USB's. But for me the result was the same -> api.dll error.
I also tried to EnableDirectInput=True in the p3d.cfg .Then the error changed a Little bit to ai_player.dll.

If i delete the assignment EnableDirectInput than it goes back to api.dll.

I also tried to disable anti Virus System but with the same result.

So the USB's should be not my problem. What is the discussed problem with the soundcard written in this post ?
My Soundcard is Sound Blaster Recon 3DI from Creative Technology. But there is also listed DELL U2715H (ready but not active) and NVidia High Definition Audi (not connected)

I checked my Driver for the Sound Card and they are on latest.

My operating System still
Win 10 64bit

Ok disabling my Sound Card also worked for me now.
I had to disable all my Sound Blaser Recon 3D Devices from Creative Technology.

Hi, Thanks for quick response.

I renamed the TargetInfo.dll, no use.

Then I add the SHOW_SCENARIO_WINDOW=0 to my cfg. Also, there is no UserInterface Section in my original cfg. After adding this line, P3D does load without the scenario window. But I have a F22 crashed into the sea. And right click is disabled.
Ok, a correction. Right click is not disabled, it is just my plane is crashed and the sim keep loading the same scenario. I managed to pause the game and try to change to an airport. But once the scenario menu appears, game crashes.
I got same problem
I'm using Windows 10. Just disabled all sound cards and reinstalled P3D Client. Same issue remains.
I remember first time loading Chaseplane, it says not compatible with P3D V4 and detecting a faulty module, then I closed it. Then this problem occured.

I've had the same problem with V3. Think that it was a video driver. I'm running V3, i7-6700k, w10 GTX-980 Ti. I would watch the progress in Task Manager and see CPU usage hit 1-5% then stop. P3D was never elevated to apps status, remained in background process.

Here are my audio devices: M Audio Delta 1010 lt (10 in 10 out) + Realtek High definition audio and I am under Windows 10.
The drivers are up to date, I am obliged to disable the 2 sound card if not the simulator crash either with one or the other!
I did not install drivers for Nvidia.

PS : I have the same problem api.dll and not problem in v3.4

Hello,

For those experiencing the crash in api.dll, if you have not already, please try the following:

1. Remove all add-ons.
2. Delete all generated files in the following locations:
  • C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4
  • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4
  • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4
3. Run P3D as an administrator.
