[RESOLVED] "Multiple objects... same name" in P3D v3 since install of V4

Post by Renidroc »

Hi,

I now get "There are multiple objects with the the same title name" when starting P3D v3.4 since installing P3D v4 (which was installed on a different drive incidentally.

Occurs for:
Alabeo Extra White, Red, Halcones
Carenado A36 Bononza White, Stripes, Deep Green, 60th Anni
F-35A Lightning II
F-22 Raptor, Green Primer, Brown, Grey, 94th, U2
and various others.

Any ideas please?

Cheers

Did you modify your simobject.cfg in DRIVE:ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\? Did you try installing any add-ons which may have done this for you? You may want to remove/rename that file, or open it up and look it over to make sure there are no duplicate entries.

Thanks

Thanks for the pointer, yes, I had installed Realair Legacy into V4 but obviously it changed simobjects.cfg in V3 folder.

Thanks

Hi Beau Hollis
Same happened to me
Installed RealAir Turbine Duke and RealAir Lancair Legacy
I can uninstall but if you could give me a little clearer info on what to do I would appreciate it
Should the simobject.cfg be the same in both v3 and v4?
I note that my v3 simobjects.cfg differs from the v4 .simobjects.cfg at the [Entry.0]
v3 include Sode entries and the Tubine Duke
Down to [Entry.3] etc etc

A v4 addon installer shouldn't be modifying v3 configuration files. You should probably report this to the add-on developer. Each application is a separate product with sepparate configuration folders and files. Each of the generated files areas should have a Lockheed Martin folder. In there you should see separate folders for each product called "Prepar3D", "Prepar3D v2", "Prepar3D v3", or "Prepar3D v4". By default the same naming should apply to the install directory as well, but v4 is in Program Files rather than Program Files (x86) because it is 64-bit. You may want to make back up copies of your config file folders prior to installing addons in case something goes wrong. Typically its best to go the add-on provider and ask for v4 support info, and instructions for how to install, uninstall, or update the add-on.

Hi Beau Hollis
Thanks for that
RealAir is no longer operational
V4 installers not available
I will only now install Addons -Plane /Scenery with bonafide V4 installers
It would be nice to return my P3Dv3 to normal but I may have to live with this for the moment
Learnt my lesson!

Hi Beau Hollis
Fixed it
Entered cfg,s of affected planes and added a number to the first line . 1 seemed to do the trick-occasionally used a 3 or 4
All good now on P3Dv3 startup
As I said lesson learnt!
