black squares

Post by bobterri6 »

I have a problem with small black (maybe dark blue...I am colored blind) appearing on the terrain in P3D 4.3. I have included a thread from AVSIM which describes the problem and provides a picture from another P3D user:

https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/5376 ... n-terrain/

Has anyone else experienced this and been able to solve this?

My computer:

I7-4790K
ASUS Z97-E motherboard
Nvidia GTX 1080i graphics card
Corsair Vengeance Pro ddr3 16gb memory

Thanks

Hello,

Did you delete all of your generated files as outlined in step 5 of this link http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic ... 2&t=123246?

Did you try uninstalling all scenery add-ons?

Have you tried reinstalling or running a repair on Prepar3D's scenery client?

Brady

Brady,

So I totally reinstalled W10 and then P3D 4.3. I installed FSUIPC and flew a flight, specifically from KBOI taking off from runway 10R turning after taking off to an approximate heading of 190-200. Previously on the prior install this always produced the squares. I had none on the new install. Then I installed Orbx FTX Global Base Pack and then the libraries. I took off from KBOI again turning the same heading. I got the squares.

Some back ground info I didn't share in the initial post: I solved this "square" problem back in June or July while on 4.1. I found a post somewhere (I could kick myself for not bookmarking it). I do remember, however, that the squares according to the author of the post was scenery tearing. He suggested turning off a setting or turning on a setting. I don't remember.

When I updated to 4.3 this week the problem returned.

Hello bobterri6,

Did you reach out to ORBX about this issue (if this is caused only after installing ORBX)?

Is this the thread you lost? https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/5374 ... to-fix-it/

I did post this problem on Orbx's forum.

No, I am aware of the thread you shared. I am, of course, the "bobterri" in the thread. I have been scouring the web looking for the solution I found earlier. Thanks.

I'm just posting the link over at Orbx forum. So far no one has replied. Turns out the squares are actually water and snow textures combined. Check out the link for the picture.

Of course you need to have access to the forum there.
