Hello,
FSX and Prepar3D are standalone products. Neither require each other installed in order to run.
For FSX legacy content, you will need to confirm with the developer whether or not these planes are compatible with Prepar3D v4 and the best way to install them. Please note of any EULAs as well.
Load time will vary from system to system. It depends on your hardware, addons, etc.
