Ultimate VFR?

Post by pmb »

Hi,

does anyone know what's the destiny of Ultimate VFR

http://store.ultimatevfr.com/

which was an ambituous project of high-resolution photo scenery for all the US States (I think a hand full were completed). I already had a bad feeling when they implemented a Starship Membership being usually one of the last steps before closure. Or, is it only a temorary glitch?

Factoring in (i) closure of Earthsimulations and (ii) Aerosoft's canceled plans of Photoreal Germany, I get the impression the concept of very high-resolution Autogen-enhanced large-area Photo scenery seems to have failed for now. Although I think its time will come with falling SSD prices (or cheaper successors) and growing computing power, maybe within 5-8 yrs, though.

Kind regards, Michael

I'm not making any accusations, just stating a fact.

I preordered Oahu on January 5, 2010.....yes, 5 1/2 years ago from Ultimate VFR and I'm still waiting for it.
