Re: v5 HF2 feedback
Ok, so, I've just put in the new Nvidia DX12 driver, and set the graphics in win10 to allow hardware scheduling. Deleted my shaders and P3D config file. Started it up again, reset all my settings to put the config file back how I like it and then shut down again. Start P3d. 8 (eight) minutes from cl...

v5 HF2 feedback
Not exactly scientific, as I'd not actually measured the timings under HF1, but for me, the load time with HF2 is only very marginally better, if at all. It's still multiple minutes, the sort of "go and find something else to do for a while" time. Several tens of time slower than v4 on my ...

Re: P3D v5 DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE-HUNG when using some Aircraft
I've also been getting a few of these errors. But I'm assuming it's teething troubles. I'm Nvidia and P3DV5, and I'm not going to go back and analyse which particular aircraft / scenery they're happening with. I have a combination of v5 ready scenery (ORBX) and non-v5 stuff, and none of the addon ai...

Re: Ctrl E not working on change of aircraft?
OK,
no idea what was going on but this seems to have stopped. Been ok for a couple of days now. I assume whatever gremlin it was got bored and has moved on.

Re: Longer loading times
Thanks for the report. In previous versions the Select Vehicle UI, entering multiplayer and SimDirector, and a few other various cases would cause long loads due to populating entity lists. We moved this to startup and also cache this list to improve the speed of accessing these parts of the system...

Re: Ctrl E not working on change of aircraft?
additional info -
looks like the whole keyboard is being disabled after switching aircraft. No keypresses detected. And yes, I have tried a different keyboard and USB port.

Ctrl E not working on change of aircraft?
I'm in the process of converting everything to v5. Generally, very pleased with v5, performance is great and I finally feel happy cruising around smoothly and with no (or only very occasional) stutters. I've learnt a lot about XML, and am trying to put all my scenery in via XML into an external dire...

Question re scenery scans
Hi, I recently saw the following quoted in another forum - "Despite the convenience, one reason not to have all your scenery active is to avoid one possible cause of stutters/pauses/long-frames. There are many explanations for these performance glitches. One is that P3D will periodically scan b...

Re: New Titan RTX - P3D display now worse than before?
OK, so I've got the hotfix installed (client and content) and it's not perfect yet, but it is a whole lot better than it was. I guess I'm just going to have to accept a couple of things. One is that I will need to tweak to get the best out of my system - I guess the extra headroom in the graphics ca...

Re: New Titan RTX - P3D display now worse than before?
Latest news - set a CPU affinity mask of "84" (on a 4790k) and getting some more reasonable frame rates now. VSynced, 30fps, and beginning to see some progress. Certainly didn't have to do any of this before though.

Re: New Titan RTX - P3D display now worse than before?
Just to update anybody who might be looking at this. I've installed the Nvidia hotfix, and it hasn't made any noticeable difference. Still getting mostly lousy frame rates and lots of stutters unless I lower my settings way down. I have gone for a clean install of 4.5, and at least I'm not getting t...

Re: New Titan RTX - P3D display now worse than before?
Thanks for that, Mike. I'm not terribly up on Nvidia drivers generally - I don't think I've ever updated the drivers for the 980 since I got it a few years back. With drivers generally I tend to go for the "ain't broke, don't fix it" approach. I've gone off to get this though and I'll see ...

Driver is the recommended from the NV site (430.39) and yep, cleared the shaders.

New Titan RTX - P3D display now worse than before?
OK, a bit OTT but I've just bought and installed a Titan RTX to replace a 980Ti. My thinking was primarily VRAM size related with regard to XP11 (and it already has confirmed my feelings there, some of my scenarios there showing over 13gb VRAM use). BUT - I'm getting all sorts of problems with P3D (...

Re: Correct location of "add-ons.cfg"?
Hi Dan, thanks for the info. Sounds like I need to look into the SDK a bit. The simwings add-ons.cfg was pointing to the correct install location, and there was an Add-on.xml file at that location. I'm not madly up on xml but it looked ok, assuming you can use the "." (period) as an indica...
