This is not a patch its a reinstall! A patch with a 36 gb size is not a patch! So need to reinstall everything in this case.

Hi Jim, The third patch is a full install which replaces the launch version. You should be able to run Setup_Prepar3D.exe and it will uninstall the previous version for you while installing the new version. im pretty sure you all using REX Skyforce? This usually gives the problem described above after several hours in flight.

16gb of ram? i would double that if i were you.

i have 64gb and my ram usage is almost 40% so in my case my ram usage is 25gb of ram with everything open (aivlasoft efb, vpilot, active sky etc..) with high settings also in 5.2 with 2 monitors.

im sure you have not enough ram installed.
